Is there something wrong with my site?

Bare with me whlie I try to explain this because I'm not sure how to.

I have been using Market Samurai to keep track of my rankings. I was in the top 200 for a brand new website for my homepage.

It stayed that way for 2 weeks until I started disappearing more into Google, meaning I was going backwards.

Well, all of a sudden, my home page now has a negative sign in MS meaning my homepage is not ranked in Google. However, my INNER pages, like www.keyword.com/stjhjhjj/uyug are showing up in Market Samurai. Many of those pages are ranked somewhere between pages 100-200 in Google for my keyword.

If you put site:website into google, my homepage DOES show up in Google.

I don't get what is going on with MS. So, is my homepage not ranked or what?? Is this part of the Google dance? Because if it is, it doesn't make sense! Thanks!

Don't worry about it. Google and other SE's play all sorts of
games with indexing/unidexing new sites. Focus on factors you
can control, like consistent backlinking and good content.

what Loren said - plus - keep in mind that the SEO game is played out over months - not weeks.

Also, Google indexes and ranks individual PAGES from your site based on the on page and off page optimization.

For some keywords, you could have just one page on your site ranked high while your index page remains quite low.

Thanks everyone!! I feel better now. My homepage is actually the most optimized also compared to other pages.

BTW, sorry about the weird text on my first post. Somehow the example site I made up turned into a funky hyperlink without me actually making it a hyperlink.

First off, the minus does not equal not ranked, it equals not ranked within the confines of your settings. It sounds like you are only checking the top 200 pages within MS. You could expand it to a higher number, but it is a waste of your time.

Second, congratulations!! Do not focus on ranking the homepage so much, focus on ranking your inner pages which are optimized for long tail keywords. Have a good link structure in your site which links from those inner pages to your home page with proper keyword phrases and your home page will begin gaining in ranking due to your inner pages. Your inner pages are likely to be your major source of traffic anyway. Focus your efforts there.

Thanks for the tips. I actually have not linked back to my home page from my inner pages. Good advice, I will get on top of that right now! I did have the rank tracker up to 1,000. I guess I won't worry about it and check back in a week or so.
