first amazon site...not converting??

hey guys

I just started my first amazon niche blog.I have not submitted articles or gain any backlinks yet, but I have had 42 unique visitors within 4 days, but no sales. Base on these numbers, does it mean my blog is not converting well??

How many of these 42 visitors have you sent to Amazon? I am guessing not many? If you send 300 visitors and no sales then I would consider plan B. The great thing about Amazon is if you send some traffic over there is a chance to sell something.

You can't say your site is making sales or not based on only 42 visitors.
You should work more to get more targeted visitors then only you can judge your site is converting well or not.

You'll learn something from every site you build, and with Amazon, people do buy. But hey, brand new, 42 visitors, many people would love that, so you're doing something right!

what about this? i have amazon links on my site, if they click that product and do not buy/get distracted, what then with my commission?

because as far as I am concerned, the second they click on a different amazon product, or home, or new categories, my affiliate ID gets removed up in the address bar.

When a visitor clicks on your link, a cookie is stored on their computer. You will be credited with anything and everything they buy from amazon within 24 hours. That is what is great about Amazon, people often buy more than 1 item, or buy something else even if they don't buy what you were promoting.

I agree with Jen and the others. It's way too early to tell. And to have those visitors and with a brand new site without any external SEO suggests you might be right on the money on your on-page stuff and might have targeted some decent keywords.
Start driving more traffic. Like you said - take the bull by the horns and jump on its back. Point some backlinks at the site and add some more contextual content.

What is the means of sending them to Amazon? Do you review stuff and give a text link or a picture link or what?

If it doesn't work - move on. But you gotta give it a REAL go first.

Another thing to keep in mind about Amazon stores, is that the goods often have a seasonal nature. For instance, snow shoes sell better in late fall than July. Sometimes it is difficult to tell which products have this type of cycle. If you searched for your keywords with Market Samauri, there is a small bar graph by each keyword returned that represents the market month by month for a year.

Even if you have people looking, they may not be ready to buy yet because it is not quite the season. My amazon sales have been way down too, I think it is just the state of the current economy. People are holding their cards tighter.

The one thing we found with promoting Amazon products is that the review sells. If you write a really helpful long review (I'm talking around 1000 words) you will convert so much better.

We found that the more helpful the review, the more likely the reader would buy.

    Congrats on getting the visitors.

Keep pushing traffic to the site and you'll see conversions.

Update your blog with decent content.
Turn those posts into simple videos
Put as many articles out there as possible
    Post on niche forums/blogs
Create a Web2.o property that links back to your money site. Use a rewritten blog post and add a image.

    Do it every do.

If you can do this every day, do it:

    Create 2 blog posts/articles(300-400) words

Convert those into articles and post them on the top 5 article directories

Convert articles into simple videos. Post them on Youtube,Metacafe and Daily motion.

Leave 10 posts on niche related forum's. Make sure they are very active
    Leave 10 good blog comments

Turn each article into a post, and post on a blogger blog or Hub. Your choice.

Do this for 30 days and you'll have lots of links all over the internet.

    • You'll have 60 blogs posts( on your own blog) for SERP traffic
    • 60 articles on high traffic article websites(top 5)
    • You'll have 60 videos
    • 300 blog comments
    • 300 forums posts
    • 30-60 web2.0 properties
This will give you a nice traffic boost and SEO love.

If you can get 1 visitor per day for each thing you do( I visitor per day per article/1 per day per video,etc...) you'll have around 500 visitors a day from this. Than it get's interesting.

Do this for 90 days.....and you'll see results.

Do more if you can but this is very doable.

I take it this is your first site. While keeping an eye on how many visitors you get it nice for getting an idea of how much attention you site it getting, you should log into the Amazon affiliate page and see how many clicks you've sent to Amazon. That will tell you if people are showing enough interest in your products to follow your link and get more info/potentially buy. I know it was mentioned previously, but if someone clicks your link but decides to go look at other products and not buy yours, you still get the commission if they buy something else. So if you're offering them a $5 ebook and they decide they don't want it, but they do want that $2000 plasma tv then you'll be looking at a much nicer commission for promoting a $5 item. People obviously buy from Amazon, you just need to drive a lot of traffic to your site so you increase you chances of someone clicking your link and buying something. Since your site is new, don't expect a whole lot of traffic just yet. Start doing all your SEO stuff to rank better and then you'll see more traffic and more clicks.

@DPM70 Well my niche is sports related, so i did a couple basic reviews, and how-to techniques. I tested first with picture and text without the border or price, but it was still to obvious that i was trying to sell something (i hate sites that look like that) So what I did was add my own photo of similar product and right beneath it i added a text link with something to the effect of "To view more models" or " To take advantage of this month sale" . Again I don't know if this method works, My strategy was more geared towards what I look for in a good site. Again I'm just a rookie so I could be going about this all wrong

Amazon is not easy to get sale. I got about thousand clicks but still no sales. I recommend you change to Clickbank or other way. It will not take much time to see first sale.

Not only can you get sales from Amazon but it's the easiest and best converting sales page in the world.

You can get 2-3 sales on a god awful site with only 100 clicks.

to the OP, don't listen to those remarks.

Stay focused on Amazon, you'll be happy you did.

If you do not know the source of that traffic, then you honestly cannot say for sure...

If you are getting the traffic from a Traffic Exchange or a Safe List, then that traffic is mostly comprised of people who want to send you ads, not buy what you are selling... So a zero conversion on this kind of traffic means nothing...

If you are getting the traffic from Adwords, you have to look at how your ad is constructed before you make the determination about your site... If your ad says Click here because you will see beautiful women, and people are seeing my ugly mug on your site, then of course no one will buy from you...

No matter the model and setup, 42 visitors is not a fair measurement of success... Give it 100 or 200, but make sure you understand where your traffic is coming from and the nature of the people coming to your site and why they are coming...

Shoot, those visitors could have even been the search engine spiders, depending on how you made the determination that 42 have visited your site.... And search engine companies don't buy what we sell either...

If you can figure out how people are finding your site, then you can make a more realistic judgment on the quality of traffic you have received...

If it is good quality traffic with zero conversion, then you should look at your website to see where the problem may reside...

If it is piss poor traffic with zero conversion, then you should look for better quality traffic...

And if you are thinking about quitting your site after only 42 visitors, you may need to remember the most important advice of all, "This is a business, not a hobby..."

Businesses require commitment, not two weeks of half-assed effort...

Hobbies don't matter, because you are doing those for fun and distraction...

42 is far to low a number a accuracy just conversion rates for example with my desperate dollars wso I sometimes get 100 visitors and no sales then I get 5 or 6 conversions with the next 100.

The next 42 visitors might bring in 4 or 5 sales it's to early for you to draw any solid conclusion yet
