Sales Page Question...

I was wondering...On my sales page I am building up to the "Belcher Button" (The commit spot for purchasing). The Belcher Button has on it "Regular Price" with a line through it followed by "Today" and then the lower price...

Is it OK to mention the regular price alone in the sales letter or do you always want to keep what the buyer could be spending and what you are asking close together?

Thanks in advance!

These issues in copy are influenced by the context of the sale:
stuff that works selling goofy consumer gadgets (hype and
"but wait, there's more!" type stuff) won't work as well in
situations where the price is higher for what you're offering.

Even affluent buyers love a bargain, but they don't want to
buy from a cheap salesman... a carnival huckster.

You do want to BUILD VALUE and maybe you want to put
a dollar value on it to make the offer seem sweeter... but in
the end the buyer is asking whether what he gets is worth
more than what you are asking him to pay.

There's a lot of hyperbole in the internet marketing letters
    where they claim a $27 info-product is worth $4567.99 -
you can use that but don't expect the inflated "value"
to clinch or increase sales. What it does is show something
about the positioning of your offer. It can work against
you too if you offer too much in your package (everything
but the kitchen sink) when what your market wants is
focused information that helps them get the result they
    want as fast as possible.

if you are selling to Internet Marketers, the Belcher Button is probably not that useful... Since we know what it is, we are less impressed with it...

However, if you are selling to regular consumers, then the Belcher Button may still have value, although I have never seen it useful on my sites...

The basic premise behind the Belcher Button is sound, and the reduced price is part of the reason it has worked for others.... some people do like $49, $39, $29 and $19 crossed out, with the current price on $12...

Regardless of how you do it, its intended purpose is to subtly influence your prospect to believe that your product or service is worth more than the price being asked for it...

Thanks for the responses...I actually have a good eBook that I am selling to just regular customers not IMers so maybe I just need to stick around and read a bit more.

Any links or advice on just selling an informative eBook would be welcome if anyone is inclined but no pressure...There are so many things to think about while doing this.

You purchase a $27.00 eBook on how to write one in a week and spend the next 8 months working on everything involved:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

This site has been really enjoyable to read through. Some of it, again, seems to be geared towards things that I am just trying to figure out so I can understand the lingo but I have been so busy writing and figuring out how to configure Wordpress (WAY Big thanks to Wordspire by the way...John RULEZ!) and ejunkie account/Paypal etc.

It's been a wonderful learning experience and I look forward to learning more!

      Thanks again for your responses!
