Not sure what you mean by making money with parked domains, unless your sitting on a good one. But parking sure doesn't do much to make the domain any better.

As far as flipping.. hard to say. The longer you keep it and grow it the more it will be worth. Many people build a site and flip it right away. Depends on what your building, if you build links to it, get traffic flowing, ect. Most buyers will also pay according to how much the site makes. Rule of thumb is 12-18 months worth of income.

Ron is correct. No value in "parking" a domain. It does not increase in value as it doesn't build a history. All domains are parked as soon as you order them...usually at the registrars server.

If you don't use it, the registrar may throw some adwords on it and make money for the registrar, not you.

If you are considering flipping a domain then it's in your interest to develop a history for the domain with articles or whatever so that it generates traffic and gets a page rank. It's the page rank that will increase the value of the domain.

I made 2 cents from parking before I gave up, I'd rather develop a domain and flip it.

As far as flipping goes, I rarely sell but it does work. I just sold an old domain for $100...not a lot but better than nothing.

In the old days people made a fortune on just sitting on a good domain name and then selling it on for BIG bucks. Domain squatting also, remember that? Before it was made illegal? How times have changed! But yeah, a domain with "some" history is certainly a better deal to flip.

I've heard of people making a bit of money by using Parked.com - Domain Parking Made Easy!

Parking works if you have a good generic type-in domain like flowers or cellphones etc., Parking companies share the revenue when visitors click the links on the parked pages.

Far better to develop the domain and flip it. There is no fixed duration as such. If you can show some revenue and traffic the website will have higher end sale price.

Alex, Let me state the following and I will make it very bare:
Domain Parking: Anyone can make money parking domain names. I actually rake in $50 from a newly parked domain name. But the proccess is what you should understand. I am paid twice a month by parked.com precisely on the 22nd and 7th of every month straigh to my paypal. I am going to try as much as I can to tell you how it works here.

First, you will register a domain based on keywords people are searching for.
You can start generating money from an expired domain that someone was using before and you registered it because of some factors including among others that he could not renew it.

For example, I registered reliablepaidsurveys.com when I discovered that it was used before and parked it at parked.com and within a period of 12 hours, I was able to generate $52.3.

The following are characteristics of a domain you can register to park:

1. Typo-genercness: This means instead of serching for the domain on google, visitors can type it on the browser, eg instead of searching for "foex trading", visitors will simply type forextrading.com on the browser.

2. Mindshare: This means when a domain is mentioned, it implants on your mind.

3. Expired domain name: Register expired domain name. You can get this by visiting domainannounce.net and then backorder them. It will bring immediate traffic.

Where to park your domain names for profit:
1. parked.com pay you twice a month
2. dotzup.com : great payments but very selective
3. namedrive.com: make money per click and still sell there
4. parkingdots.com: Good for expired domain only and pay high
5. imonetize.com: combine all parking company and share the ppc income with you

On site Flipping: Yes, you can flip your domain or website or blog.
