What is a good keyword tool?

I am looking for a Good (free) keyword tool. I am trying to use Google's but, it's not being cooperative. I may look for "blue red crystals in sacremento," but, it only gives me suggestions based on "blue red crystals."

Any ideas? Or, is there anyway I can work on Google to make it work?

    Hi Jeremy -

Have you tried using the EXACT search perimeter instead of BROAD? It may make a difference for you.

YES...GOOGLE KEYWORD TOOL....and then on the left side of the page - scroll down a little bit.... uncheck the BROAD box and CHECK the Exact box...and then you will know exactly how many people type in the keyword(s)....

Google just might not have data for the term, blue red crystals in sacremento.

I find Market Samurai useful, the keyword research tool function is free even after the trial ends. But I use that, and I still use Googles own tool as well. (sometimes thats quicker)

  • Hi Jeremy,

I use Google adwords - seems the best free version.

I just put your keyword in Google Keywords and it returned some keywords including the main keyword "blue red crystals in sacremento".

There aint many searches for the term, hence there were only a dozen or so keywords listed.

Using exact instead of broad is the same thing as putting the keyword in quotation marks in that it only searches for that phrase.

    Hope this Helps

    Hi Jeremy,

    Good free keyword tool...hmmm.

Not sure if you have the right mindset here.

Keywords are the gold that you need to discover to succeed in knowing what traffic is easy to attract.

Using free tools is good but not best.

In my experience in finding the hidden treasures of keywords that are driving high volumes of traffic that are low competition (easy to rank for) keywords that demonstrate buying intent are revealed by using paid tools.

    Why does this work?

Well it is rather obvious that the keywords discovered by the free tool crew are going to end up with loads of competition sooner or later.

The difference in finding golden keywords and average keywords is many, many times worth the cost of any keyword tool I have used, except of one, Imeye. That one is not good value, and at $150 a month is in dreamland.

I have used them all, Keyword Spy, SpyFu, SeoQuake, Semrush, Market Samurai and a bunch of other proprietary ones buried in closed communities.

Best value for one time fee, Market Samurai hands down. This one has a keyword suggestion function that is good for your mentioned problem and saves about 35 hours of hand done research for every client. All done in minutes, not days.

Best value for the ongoing fee type which I use everyday would have to be Semrush.

PM me if you want some training on either of these tools, as there is a right way and many, many wrong ways to use them.

I have been using these with my clients as an SEO consultant and for my own affiliate websites and adsense earners to great advantage.

Trust this will help you, as it can be confusing as to what to use.

    Greg.
