Can I put an article on my site and add a link?

I obviously read the terms of service in some article sites (e.g. article city, go articles...) regarding their copyright terms.

Granted I can copy an article and put it on my site legally, would it be a good idea to do so with the intention of adding links and content? I would like to write my own opinion about the article, place it before the actual article, AND then add some links in the body.

Any input?

you can [with permission] of course. It sounds like a review of the article in question.

Good question - as I understand it you can add links to your own text, but not in the body of the other persons article.

On the otherhand isn't there software that systematically turns keywords on a page into clickable affilliate links?

It's fine to write an introductory paragraph and then reprint an article below that paragraph. Not fine to insert your affiliate links into someone else's article.

I don't know if others use the auto-link programs in this way - but I wouldn't.

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.

If it is a copyrighted article you are not allowed to use it without permission period....legally. Now is the wall street journal gonna send a lawyer to your door for copying and pasting an article on your no-nothing site? Prolly not.

I wanted to reprint an article from the new yorker that mentioned my dads bike shop. They told me I had to pay like $300 to put it onmy dads cheezy joomla site that has a few prices for bicyle rentals. Sheesh! So much for doing it 'the proper' way.

I ended up quoting a few lines and then linked to the full article.
