If you build niche sites, I have some questions for you about scaling

Hi,

I want to try my hand at building small niche sites targeting long tale keywords and monetizing with adsense.

My question is, how do people scale this model?

I am interested in what tools, templates e.t.c. people use to be able to quickly deploy lots of these sites fast?

Do you just do fresh installs of wordpress each time and build from scratch? Or are they ways to make this faster?

Also, where do you go to get your articles written? Or do you do it yourself.

Any information on following this blueprint with maximum efficiency is appreciated.

    1. Get a common template for all your websites.

    2. I do fresh installs of WordPress each time I setup a new site.

    3. I write all articles my own.

P.S My niche sites are monetized with ClickBank.

Well, I monetize mine with amazon and not adsense but I think the process is the same.

I use the same template and switch out the header/color scheme on a new wordpress install. The whole thing takes about 1/2 hour.

I don't typically write articles for these types of sites, I use WPRobot to populate them which takes like 3 minutes.

The real time is spent in getting links to the site. You need to automate this as much as possible.

I'm sure there are people who have a much faster method, I'm not building tons of sites a day or I would probably have to sacrifice some of the "prettiness" of the site for speed.

I do fresh install for every site.
And i design a theme and use that on all of the site.
If you do that and write your unique articles you will be able to make enough sites to make good earning.

I use WordPress for all of my niche sites. I use the same theme every time, just changing the header and colors. I host with HostGator, so I am able to use Fantastico to install WordPress. This saves a lot of time. I write some articles myself, but I also outsource at TextBroker.com.

Use a consistent layout and theme. Hire an outsourcer to do all the setup. Write articles and submit to unique article wizard for back links.

See my outsourcing link in sig - I discuss what I do. Critical to outsource.

I've got a bunch set up with the same Woo theme only in different color schemes. I just copy a whole blog to new domain with the colors I want, then switch the header, and populate it with new articles in the new niche and change the ads to relevant ads. I use PLR articles mostly, but will write some myself and rewrite some PLR.

I use Adsense, Amazon, Clickbank, CPA ads and selling ebooks to monetize them.

I have an in-house software we developed for this. You give it your FTP details and it sets up your wordpress blogs with all your standard plugins installed, along with your theme. You can then go to WP admin panel to change anything if need be. Most of the time, there's no need though because that standard set of plugins installs everything perfectly.

    There's Wordpress Direct, too. :-)

Also, where do you go to get your articles written? Or do you do it yourself.
I have a couple of VAs who write content everyday for me. I hired them from OnlineJobs.ph / Easyoutsource, or Indian interns.

Lastly, I use quite a few tools and plugins (and outsource a lot of the repeat tasks) to make it as much autopilot as it could be. Doing it manually would take a lot of time.

    Cheers!

  • I have a couple few things I do to speed this up:

    (1) I wrote a quick Unix script which sets up the basics of the site from a common installation. There are also a few products that do this.

    (2) I wrote myself out a set of steps to carry out on every site to get it to the standard I expect.

    (3) I try and do things in bulk as much as possible. Rather than setting up a single site, I'll set up a whole load of sites in sequence. This has a scale of economies with less stop and start which is much more effective in the long run.

I don't run that many niche sites compared to a lot of marketers, so I haven't gone fully into outsourcing these, but if I were to, I'd take what I had now and push them onto an outsourcer. At the moment, more of my business is in different directions.

Thanks for all the replies. Really great information!

There has been some talk of tools that install wordpress automatically and set-up themes e.t.c.

Can anybody recommend some tools to help do this?

Also, can anyone point to the wordpress themes and plugins they use?

    Thanks!
