Name.com seems to going down hill at the mo
They have started charging more for the domains and lately have start charging you for Who is privacy

Most of my domains are registered with them and I like them but feel they are on a slippery slop

Does any one know any other good domain registary that is clean , not spammy and has free who is privacy

Most registrars have started charging more for domains, after an increase by Verisign in July. It is a pity though that Name.com no longer give you free whois. Namecheap still does though.

I bought my name.com domain with free whois, there is a coupon floating around somewhere for the month of august, it gives you free whois protection

I think the coupon is FREEWHOIS - so yeah you can still get it free though I've starting registering domains at other, cheaper registrars. Internet.bs gives great prices and I have been transferring a lot of my expiring domains from Name.com to there.

      Same here

I only use Godaddy for my domain names. In the past I started to use namecheap but I transferred all my domains to godaddy.

I started using them when I was a newbie, heh. They were at $5.99 per domain name at that time, probably the cheapest.

I don't think there are going downhill. I heard there was a global price increase for domain names in July? They are awesome and far better than GoDaddy!

I don't think they are going downhill. There are lots of rumours floating around.

You can also checkout domainsite.com owned by them !

I own alot of domains and have never registered private. If you have nothing to hide why do you need it? I understand if you are doing something illegal but if its legal whats to hide?

    Hey everyone,

Unfortunately our prices have changed recently due to the VeriSign price increase, but we do have a few things in place to help you save money.

Our August promo is HEATWAVE and it is good for $8.89 com/net registrations and renewals. We also have FREEWHOIS which still allows you to get private whois on your domains for free. In addition to promo codes, we now offer an Investor Club to anyone with 25+ domains registered with us, so you can get sweet discounts that are separate from our standard promos. This forum won't let me post a link, but if you're interested in the program shoot me an email at lesley[at]name.com.

    Hey All,

I'm an avid user of Name.com, and I love the registrar, been there since I registered one of my first domain name . Prices have gone up everywhere, and I believe they are still much cheaper then GoDaddy.com, and other registrars out there. As well, Free Whois privacy is still available, all you need is the promo code "FREEWHOIS".

I don't know if I'm supposed to mention this, but Name.com is setting up an Affiliate Program, (I know people), and it will probably bring a lot more to the name.com table. The only problem I'm having is the page freezing, when trying to register a domain name. For some reason it's pulling content from another (REALLY SLOW) site.
