How to Get More Out of the Directory of Ezines (DOE)??

This is a question for Doe Members. First, I am very happy with the investment - it was definitely worth the $200 or $300 I paid for it (don't remember which one but whatever it was worth it...)

The issue for me now is that I just don't have the time to do the manual labor needed to research the different publications.

And if it requires a good 5 hours or more of labor + advertising costs to + a few weeks wait to get your ads out, I'm just not sure how good the ROI is on ezine ads compared to other forms of traffic.

What I want to know is how other people are going about researching the different ezines and placing ads.

If Charlie reads this, here's a tip:
If there were a way to say pay a set fee - say $20-$50 (or whatever) and all you had to do is have the DOE staff a)research appropriate ezines for your offer b)submit your ad c)forward you the submission info (of course you'd pay the price OR the Doe would pay and you just paid them. So for instance if you bought a $100 ad you'd pay $120-$150. I just don't have the time to manually research ezines given how easy it is to say set up a ppv or facebook (or some other method) campaign.

Perhaps if some enterprising member decided to do this (much like a directory submission service) that might work too.

I'm stumped regarding this and hope the process of doing ezine advertising stops being so labor intensive. You can't really "automate" ezine advertising like other forms of advertising and whatever costs more time costs more money....

Ironically I just joined DOE yesterday and I know I'm new but I thought the whole point was the fact that the list of ezines on the site had already been researched and you could just choose one or two and submit an ad.

Well DOE cuts down a helluva lot of the work that you'd normally do to find some ezines but it's STILL work to get some good results. As a results, let's say you have a business opportunity offer. Well there are literally a good 100+ likely candidates. To decide where to advertise you need to:

      1) research the cost of an ezine
      2) find out the contact info
      3) find out when the next ad deadline is
      4) email the advertiser your ad and make sure its ok
      5) and as Charlie suggests, join the ad

That's just too much work for me, there are other higher ROI things I can do. I asked if it was ok to get my VA to do it but he said no. I guess it could be possible to buy another membership so she could do it but that just seems like a bit too much and not really fair.

At this point, I don't know what I'm going to do; everyone says when ezine ads are done right it's some of the best ad spend that's out there but I started a business so as not to have a job (lol...)

    Turn it into bread :p.

Your suggestion is good as not many people have much time, and want to get things done quicker.
