Some Product Owners Know Nothing About Keyword Research

I was bored today. I get that way from time to time.

So today I decided to search out another niche. I went to the Clickbank
marketplace and found a product that I thought would be a very good one
to sell.

I brought up the pitch page to see what keywords the guy was targeting.

Absolutely horrible.

I don't see how he's making any sales at all. And with a gravity of about
15, I'm not surprised.

So I did some keyword research on my own and found tons of long tail
keywords that I have no doubt will land me on page 1 of Google, where I
can then dominate this market and maybe actually make this guy some
sales.

But that's not the whole issue.

There has been a lot of talk about going to offline companies because
they basically have no web presence. Well, some online product creators
WITH a web presence have a pretty poor one, and this is YOUR chance
to make a few quick easy bucks.

Contact the owner. Tell him that you've looked over his sales page and
you've noticed that his keywords are not as optimized as they could be.
Offer your services to do the keyword research for him. Only you can
decide how much your time is worth so charge accordingly.

Naturally, this isn't going to work with somebody who has a gravity of 200.
But somebody who is struggling for affiliates and probably struggling to
make sales will be more inclined to take you up on your offer.

Okay, I know what you're going to ask.

"Have I done this?"

Like I said, I was bored today. My wife's been killing me with "All In The
Family" reruns all day and there is only so much I can stand. So yes, I did
give this a shot and yes, my offer was accepted.

Granted, I made it at a price that was so low that only a moron would
pass it up.

But...this can lead to a bigger business.

You start showing your success stories and suddenly product creators
are going to seek YOU out.

Will it take time to build a rep? Probably. And I certainly have no intentions
of doing this full time. But on days when I'm bored, having the knowledge
of keyword research that I do, I'll pick out random products from the
marketplace and make my pitches.

Do you have ANY idea how many products there are out there?

You're probably wondering why I am sharing this idea.

As I said, I have no intentions of making this a full time business, though it
certainly can be. Take look at the crap keywords on some of the sales
pages. Heck, some don't even have keywords.

The market exists. If you price the service at an affordable amount, you
can do very well. I made one contact and got one customer. Who wouldn't
want more sales especially if you're practically giving the info away?

Naturally, you need to really know your keyword research and quite
honestly, you might make more money just doing the research on a product
and selling the product yourself instead of making it more attractive for
others to promote. But if you're not into the marketing end of this (some
folks aren't) this is a great alternative. And let me tell you, it's easy money.

Honestly, I would have NEVER thought of this if the sales page's keywords
weren't so awful. But sometimes ideas come from situations just like this.

Anyway, thought I'd pass this along. I don't know if such a service for
single sales pages exists (I know people do SEO work for web sites) but
if it doesn't, this may be something worth looking into.

    Hi Steven,

How the devil do you find time to get bored with everything that you do on the Internet?

You must have some killer time management skills.

That's exactly it. I make a schedule for each day and stick to it. When my
schedule is completed, I then look for things to do because I do get bored
very easily. I can't just sit around and do nothing.

I probably have some kind of compulsive disorder.

I'd make a great case study for a shrink.
