Do I really need a website to be successful?

I see that the majority of those successfully have built their own websites. I have been currently using free blogs and lenses as my landing pages. I first wanted to do this to find out which products convert and then go ahead and build a website for that particular niche.

I'd greatly appreciate any feedback on this. Also, if I should be making websites for each niche idea I come across, does anyone have a recommendation on which website platforms are easiest to build and maintain? I am thinking WordPress would be the way to go since I've heard so many talk about it, but I don't know anything about WordPress either.

I am totally new to website creation and would appreciate any suggestions you guys can give me.

Thanks for your replies.

Yes, wordpress is great. There's many guides about this and you can basically create 1 new website for a different keyword every day. The more websites you have ranking, the more organic traffic you'll get = more sales. Good luck!

You can be successful even when using blogs. However, it is more advantageous in many ways to use your own website. You have more control on the contents of your own website. Some of my websites are integrated with blogs on which I use Wordpress as a platform. Now when it comes to creating a website, you can outsource this task if you are new on website design. Furthermore, if you promote some affiliate programs, the promoters create your own website free of charge.

First of all website is recommended, those good days of free blogs and ugly subdomains have gone. Internet is moving much faster than anybody has anticipated.
Anyway as you are new so I guess wordpress would be best option for you.

    Hi latrice17,

Yeah man. To have a presence on the internet you should have your own websites. And a WordPress blog is the best way to start. WordPress can be used for many sites, as well, not just for blogging.

Use WordPress.org. Not WordPress.com. Using paid hosting means you own it and have total control as to what you can do with it.

    Best to you.

I recommend your own domain and hosting and Wordpress for niche sites. Very easy to get up and running and to keep updated. Free sites are great, especially for newbies to get their feet wet in running a site, but your site and content are at the mercy of the people running the site. If they decide they don't like affiliate links or anything else about your site, it's gone.

      Thanks everyone for your replies.

Well, I guess what I mean by success is being able to leave my day job and in order to do that, I'd need to average at least $50 a day for a full 30 days.

However, right now I just want to get some conversions going.

I've only been marketing since late June so I know I just got to be patient and work a little harder. I am using all free methods now and I am not seeing the traffic I'd like to especially since I am using targeting keywords and my articles and lenses are all on the front page of google.

In order to quit your day job safely, you need to be making a consistent amount of money to cover all your bills for longer than 30 days and to have money in the bank to cover 6 months worth of expenses should your sales fall through. There's no rush. Learn how to do it first and concentrate on the things that work for you and then multiply the successes and ditch the failures.

Yes, you need your own website. Free services tie your hands and you can't sell them.

You don't have any control over your free blogs and lenses - if they decide to delete all of them at once, there's little you can do.

It happened to me a few years ago and it wasn't because I was doing anything dodgy either - normally I would write hundreds of entries and then add them quickly to a blog, using an automation tool that I created. Well, one of the big blog hosts "saw" large numbers of requests from the same IP, suspended my account and redirected more than 100 blogs to their custom 404.

Thanks again guys. I will look into WordPress soon.

I am ready to do what it takes to ditch the day job. I also know that it takes time too, I just want to make sure I am aimed in the right direction.

Also, do you guys think it is a good idea to test out the niches to see what converts first before I create a WordPress site for that particular niche?

This way I wont buy domain names and create sites that will not working for me? I know we'd all agree that that could get pretty expensive and I would waste time when the niche is not profitable.

Also, in your guys opinion, what type of products are best to promote? I'm promoting both Click Bank products and physical products, but no luck just yet.

If your budget is very low for domain registration, web hosting, etc.
You can use a free hosting blog site, such as blogger.com or squidoo lens.

Google love them and I like using them too.

You do not need a web site to succeed but you need a web site so you can have your own you know when you say this is my own that means there is financial involvement so no body can take it away like the free site Google can decide to sweep your site over night and you can not do anything because the site is free but for paid site it is not so

Of course you need your own site.

Direct-linking puts the remote control of your business in the hands of an unknown variable. When you have your own site, you wrestle back the control and you would have more marketing powers in your arsenal.

Plus in our business, list building is the absolute cornerstone. Without a site, you will never get to build your list, period.

Get a site, get your feet wet. It is a must for every internet marketer that is serious about this.
