Free Blogspot Question?

WordPress the script is also free. The hosting/domain is not free

People use and will continue to use free blogs... the issue is you don't have control over it. The owner of the site can delete/remove your blog if they don't like it.

I had 40-50 blogger blogs 2 months ago which were generating some affiliate commissions, now i have got hostgator hosting and real domains and i can already see the difference, i am getting much more subscribers then before. People get more attracted towards GetAbsFast.com rather then GetFastAbs.blogspot.com(just an example)

i prefer using my own hosted blogs on my domains. i'm a control freak. plus i'm beginning to hate blogger's interface.

however i will use free blogs for backlinks to my money sites and affiliate promotions. i'm setting up a linkwheel for a new product I've got coming out this week.

Don't forget that you can go down the wordpress route for free. If you get free hosting at byethost and use one of their domains you get rid of the only expenses.

Its not ideal but equal, then, in cost to blogger with the important difference that you have control.

As you grow, you can switch all to their paid hosting which is about $3 a month and also get your own domain names (you get one free with a yearly account). Very good value.

There are thousands of good themes out there for free and I think, to date, I have only ever paid for one plug in.

People still use free blogs, but free blogs are rife with spam...

The problem in my book is letting a third-party control your revenue...

I used to have several blogs on blogspot that were serving me well... But Blogger (owned by Google) in its infinite wisdom decided my blogs were spam blogs... Blogger turned them off... Then I went thru the manual process to have them turned back on... One week later, they turned em off again... Rinse and repeat... After walking thru the human verification process five times to get my blogs turned back on, I gave up and let them go when Blogger turned me off the sixth time...

Many of them had excellent search rankings, good traffic, and real revenue... But it quickly became clear that they were not turning me off because they did not think I was caring for them... They turned me off six times in 3 months...

You know the problem with Wordpress was I thought it was always sooo techy and Im a simple creative type so I liked blogger and started with them and now that they introduced their custom domain function I was planning on converting my 1st successful blog to a .com but was scared it would loose all its inbound links and id have to start all over again with it so I left it and started building another site.

But after reading this it appears I should start prepping for the transition to wordpress just in case, but its just that WP looks soooo techy with its control panel and stuff.

Then again I've also thought up a kind of ''Back up Plan'' for my next blogger blog while I learn wp slowly.

1st of all custom domain the blog
2nd of all copy and paste in notepad the template to back it up
3rd copy and paste the html for each post and page in notepad aswell to back it up.

So with these safeguards say you have a five page niche site you can easily get back up and running if anything goes wrong with blogger i.e you can easily reinstall that same blog under the custom domain or

Point the custom domain name to a created wordpress blog if you're really annoyed and just copy and paste the html codes into the pages and posts or you can copy and paste the text itself into the new wp pages and posts

Obviously I'd prefer html copy and pasting cos you get to keep links and images that way.

But from now on it seems I should be custom domaining my blogs from the start instead of building it to the 1st page of google as a .blogspot.com and then realising its better to have had it in the .com crew before it got that successful.

Ah well thats the fun of the road to success you can't be scared of rejections cos they are all a bunch of IMing life lessons.

Don't put too much hope into that solution... copying html into the WP posts will create a royal mess

didn't you hear that blogger team has been killing many of the made-for-adsense sites?

Just export and problem should be avoided.
