How do you get more affiliates to promote your own product?

Are contests the best way?

How do you do it?

The important mistake to avoid is simply "trying to attract as many affiliates as possible", because vendors who do that tend to end up with only the "90% group", i.e. a large number of affiliates - often temporarily - without ever achieving the sales volume to match.

Bear in mind that there are 3 different types of sources of information about what you've asked: (i) other vendors, (ii) the small minority of successful affiliates (who can offer information about what attracts them to products), and (iii) other affiliates (the majority).

I suspect you're asking vendors, really, from having asked "How do you do it?", and I'm an affiliate, so I'll say no more, for now, anyway - I'm really just "politely prompting" you to appreciate that this is one of the subjects in internet marketing about which the "majority view" may well not be a particularly successful or productive one. And apologies if my observation itself is also unhelpful.
Good post. How would you define "enough affiliates"? How many does a web site really need to drive consistent traffic?

A very important step to attract new partners that many sellers do not know or not know, do not advertise to offer before applying for affiliates. Why? because you must ensure that your offer converts. Otherwise, all your efforts are wasted. number of members, especially a great success this will only give a product a chance. If you do not turn into sales for them, they stop promoting and probably will not try again, especially if money is spent to promote it.
