If I was new to the IM niche - I'd do something like this...

If I was going to enter a saturated niche like the Internet Marketing niche, here's what I'd do...

1) I'd create a killer video that gave away some amazing "free line" information. (Maybe some kind of new offline marketing technique)

2) That video would end with a call to action to opt in for the conclusion of the first video (like the micro-continuity squeeze idea) or for some kind of cool software or something

3) I would have this all run through an affiliate software like 1ShoppingCart or InfusionSoft - that way you can track who sent opt-ins and not just sales

----------------------------------
The above is the easy part. Now it's a matter of getting affiliates to promote your new opt-in to their list.

Why would they do that you ask?

Because you're going to give them an awesome prize for whoever sends the most opt-ins. And I'm talking something bad ass (keeping in mind that the biggest IM affiliates are dudes in their late 20's to mid 30's) like an all-inclusive trip to Jamaica.

Now before you gasp at the idea of spending between 2,000 and 3,000 on a trip you're going to give away think about this....

A) You're building a business (If you want fast, quality, endorsed leads - it's not going to be free)

B) If you are giving away an all-inclusive getaway to some place like Jamaica, how many big affiliates (with lists in the 10k -30k range) will promote for you? A LOT. Sending people to a squeeze page is easy.

(I don't think you'd be stretching it to be able to land 10 affiliates with 10k lists - that's 100k in possible leads)

Now just do the math....

If you spent 3k on your Caribbean prize, and you got a dozen or two dozen "super affiliates" fighting to be the top guy sending leads to your squeeze page... it's not far fetched to think you'd end up with a 6,000 + list.

Do you think you could buy PPC traffic in the IM niche for 50 cents an opt in? Hell you can't even by CLICKS (little lone opt ins) for less than a buck anymore.

And 6k opt-ins is a Conservative number. If you give away good info and have a compelling call-to-action you should be able to get a 15 - 20% opt in rate no problem. That means you're list is now closer to 20k and you only spent 3k to build it.

Great idea! Is that the only software that can track opt ins? Also, I think 3k might be a little much for the average newbie. As most ppl want to start for zero, lol. But we all know it takes money to make money. I might just figure out a way to do something similar to this. Thanks

Doing what James said is not out of the realm for a newbie. The key for newbies to succeed in this is to be "OK" with having fast success. Everyone thinks you have to struggle and that's just not the case.

Doing what he says with the affiliates I know (there are many more) could easily get way more than 6k leads. $3k vacation for 10k+ leads. Man I could make a fortune with that.

Seriously...all newbies out there. This is a modified CPA offer and it's not hard. You could make the $3000 vacation cost back with One Time Offer sales let alone now that you have a list.

Great to see you dropping in here James

      Cheers,

      Brad

True, most people think they have to struggle, and that's not the case. That said, newbies should certainly spend a LOT of time making sure they get it right and understand what's happening before they do something as extreme (and awesome) as that.

What I meant was that most people who are looking to start an internet biz don't have 3 grand to drop. Because like you said about fast success, also many newbies think they can (and therefore should) start an internet biz for nothing (b/c we hear it all the time). I think most that had 3k to start a biz would probably start an offline biz. Although I can't think of any offline biz that would get the same impact for 3k that this would for an online business. I personally think this is a great idea and as I said earlier I'm currently scheming on how I wil do something similar. I don't think it would be outlandish to think you would get 10K-20K subscribers and you could easily recoup the investment with OTO (like you said). hell I think just a simple $5 oto at the confirmation page would more than pay for this and your own vacation too, lol. This idea is so simple I wish I would have come up with it myself b/c even with a 6k list as a result 50 cents a sub is pretty sweet.

the video becomes more attractive when there is a call to action at the end. new people usually face money problem but i think the budget you mentioned will be fine for most of the people.
