Article spinning a waste of time?

Hello

I am unsure whether article spinning is a waste of time.

I have seen statements supposedly by Google, that it does not matter if you send out the same article to many different directories, it is unconcerned with such activity.

I learned how to use spinning syntax properly, though it did take some hair tearing in the process, and I can produce what I think are well spun articles.

But is it worth the effort?

I have seen it said that this wave of article spinning is down to ignorance on the part of the article spinner, who mistakenly thinks that duplicate content is to be avoided at all costs, and is fed by the people who make the spinning software.

Can someone please point me to a definitive answer to this quandry I find myself in.

Is article spinning a waste of time?

Can I send out the same article to many different directories?

Thank you.

Richard

If you want to know about duplicate content, go to the horses mouth:

Duplicate content - Webmaster Tools Help

"Google tries hard to index and show pages with distinct information."

In other words spinning will have value if you are trying to get different web properties indexed in different positions in the top 10 of Google.

I doubt the backlink value will increase - so if you just need backlinks it may not be worth it. Just pump out the same article to different places.

Another use of Spinning is submitting the same content to the same directories who won't accept duplicate content (nothing directly to do with Google).

A spinner can help you rewrite content even if you are not planning to generate multiple copies. E.g. if you want to quickly write an article on topic X by rewriting some PLR.

Everyone here will tell you something different, it just depends how you use the articles and what result you want. This debate is endless - just test it out for yourself, see if it has a positive impact on your business. See if it brings in extra backlinks, which give you a boost up the search engines. Then if so compare the time / cost of this compared to your usual method and go ahead with the "best" (for you).

I've ranked for many tough keywords using just spinned articles and linkwheels, so no, it's not a waste of time.

      I see>

So if I am only interested in backlinks, which I was, then its ok to send out the same article to different directories.

Forgive my ignorance, but could theemperor clarify what he means by the following:

In other words spinning will have value if you are trying to get different web properties indexed in different positions in the top 10 of Google.

I suddently feel a weight being lifted from my shoulders, thank you.

And yes, I can see the value of spinning a little more clearly now.

Yes, say you plan to create a Hubpage article and an Ezine article for the keyword "Sony DSCW320B".

If both have different content then I believe (based on what Google says) that it is easier to get them both ranked in the top 10 than if they had the same content.

Spinning should produce 'different enough' content for this purpose. So you can get visitors from the #1 and #2 spots (if you are lucky/skillful!).

Also read cashcow's post she explained it well...

While Google doesn't "penalise" you for not using unique articles, it doesn't rank articles that aren't unique either...

I mean, you do a search for anything on Google, and there might be millions of results, but Google doesn't list all the many millions... it will get down a few pages and then you'll find it's omitted the rest.

This is what Google does with non-unique content. Whether these backlinks don't count for as much, who knows??

No, Spinning of articles won't be a waste of your time. It could really give you backlinks. However, just be careful and check some of your articles before submitting them. There are article spinners that will give you useless articles..

I'm not trying to suggest that high-quality spinning has no value for anyone (though it doesn't for me), but backlinks are one of the things that are not an example of that value.
I think this depends on where your content gets syndicated. If an article gets published on strong websites then it will get indexed and ranked, but if it's syndicated to low quality blogs and article directories, then I would think it would be better to be unique.

I don't suggest that content syndicated in low quality blogs and article directories will get ranked. (It will usually get indexed, but in the supplemental index, not the main one).

My comment related only to backlinks.

The entirely mistaken allegation had been made, before my post above, that you'll get a better class of backlink with unique content than with syndicated content, and I posted simply to correct this misinformation.
All clear then, you're right of course. I admire your ongoing fight against the dupe content myth. I doubt it will die any time soon though. It makes SEO'ers a lot of money.

Anyway, if the goal is to get backlinks with 3$ articles, then it's still better to spin those imo.

Lets say you are the best dog trainer on the planet and you are trying to rank for the keyword phrase "small dog training"

You write a great article and distribute the same article to a bunch of article directories and web2.0 properties.

Google will only rank 1 of these on page 1 (yes, I know they do rank the same content in more than 1 place on the homepage but this is usually for phrases with little else for them to rank)

Now, if you spin the article (no, not so it sounds crappy, not with synonyms but with sentence replacement and carefully chosen synonyms) then you will have 10 different articles and can claim all 10 spots on page 1.

Furthermore if you think outside the box and use something like the data merge feature in The Best Spinner, you can go on to spin out articles on

    "chihuahua training"
    "Yorkie training"
    "**** tzu training"

    etc....

I would say they are not a waste of time but you should be careful and keep your eye on the quality of spun articles ... don't just click the button in your spinning software and submit it without reading it first... other good way is to check it with copyscape...

Personally I use easy article rewriter and I rewrite 100% of my plr content. I then run my new article through plagium (beta)::: plagiarism tracker & checker ::: home to see if there are any phrases being used. If everything comes up ok then I know I'm good to go.

The reason I use Easy Article Rewriter is because it's free and it parses your articles sentence by sentence so you can still fully rewrite your article in your own words but also keep the original idea behind the content.

Thanks kbs for the info about how to use easy article rewriter and the plagiarism tracker. I had given up on article rewriting, because like you said some of them put out junk and and you spend too much time correcting the errors.

Are there any techies out there that know how to spin articles correctly for a fee? I have 5 domains in the same niche and I don't want to pay for the same articles written differently 5 times but I would be willing to pay a fraction for well written spun articles from on high quality original.
