Does Your Site Look Like This

I just got through writing an article on the does and don't s of web creation when someone emailed me wanting a link to one of my sites. He included a link to his site for mutual exchange.

The first thing that hit me was the color scheme. Black background and psychedelic red and green colored type that was just impossible to read. As a matter of fact it is some hours later and my eyes are still sore from trying to read it.

The glare and its impact was terrible and needless to say it won't be linked to my sites.

The first thing I learned about web site creation was to make it user friendly for everyone. White background (or at least a light color) with clear wording of a strong color is a must. I use black, brown or red type and the font slightly larger for vision impaired people to easily read. That way it avoids their having to increase the text size which can throw the balance of the site out.

Lately while surfing sites I notice how many web masters are choosing colored backgrounds with font colors almost the same hue. How do they expect people to read them? Even professional sites have displayed a lack of concern for their visitors to enjoy browsing them in comfort.

If our sites are not able to be read, navigated properly and user friendly how are they going to produce the business and an income for the Internet marketer?

Perhaps others have different opinions on this matter that justifies dark colored backgrounds.
