Default This is an offshoot of that monster "cash cow" thread...

Just wanted to see if we could compile a list of all the reasons an offline biz might need/want to build a list -- and use this thread to post those reasons. Of course not all the reasons would apply to every biz, but it'd still be nice to have a handy list of all the possible reasons.

Go ahead an start the list.

Cheers.

To lower advertising cost. It's easier to sell an existing customer than to get a new customer.

Can we add to this & broaden the post a little (just tell me if you'd rather we start another one)

I think we could also look at - what specific things you'd put in an email program for different businesses - eg...

restaurant - menu updates, special occasions, specials, birthday club promo
pet shop - regular list of pets available, caring for pets - one pet per email (gives an endless supply of email updates)

etc etc - you get the idea

like i said - if you'd rather see this in a separate thread let me know - I just thought it'd go well in here

The most obvious one for businesses with people already walking through their doors is to give them the ability to follow up with the prospects and customers who walk into their business every day.

Most businesses that have high walk past traffic are paying through the nose for a premium retail location.

If they capture those contact details and start and effective follow up system then they can:

# 1: Be far less reliant on walk past traffic, producing sales even when business is slow.

# 2: Eventually consider renting a location somewhere far less expensive by marketing mainly to their database of clients and prospects.

# 3: Possibly change the nature of their business altogether where they market solely through email and mail campaigns and have no retail outlet (other forms of delivery).

# 4: Promote and market the products and services of other related businesses either to create a substantial secondary income or possibly as a primary business.

Most brick and mortar businesses have no real understanding of the value of an email list or even a mailing list of prospects and clients.

That was the main reason I created the product From Offline Store Front To Online Gold with its bonus report How To Sell Your Email Marketing Services To Local Businesses (warriors only).

As an internet marketing consultant sharing the ideas above can make you seem like a marketing genius to the average brick and mortar business owner.

And you can get hired setting up some very basic email autoresponder systems.

Best of all over time you can potentially give a regular business all of the options above.

Kindest regards,
Andrew Cavanagh
