HI all

Let's say you had your paypal account closed how would this effect your business...

It happened to me today.. but I am working on getting it back.. but I am wondering how would it effect your online business if you could not use or accept paypal payments.

For me this is a wake up call and I am going to get my own merchant account and only use paypal to buy things online...

After being with them for 10 years. and them doing this to me for no real reason I have had enough....

Do you treat your 10 year old customers like this... in the real world no business does.

just had to rant..

Tom

I have heard of people getting their account closed for some sort of violation of their terms. Its not a pleasant thing to happen thats for sure.

Just remember paypal was created for the selling of physical product mostly from Ebay. Digital products are hard for them to monitor.

I would quickly get another payment option. Hasn't happened to me yet though. Did they say why they did that?

I would quickly switch all my payment links to my Authorize.net account or my 2Checkout account or my MoneyBookers account.

Don't wait until disaster happens, you should already have multiple accounts.

i have done this. i never had my account closed or terminated, but i have had it restricted a few times for no apparent reason. i contact them and they say "we just wanted to verify a few things" and then they open it back up. but i do have a few other payment methods standing by in the event there is something major wrong, to avoid a catastrophe.

      have a nice day.

I have heard these kinds of horror stories about paypal. It is indeed inconvenient having an account closed. Have you talked to them or have contacted the paypal support..? I think you deserve to know what you have violated. So you can fix the issues that you have encountered. I am pretty sure they'll get back to you.
Moneybookers/swerg/Google Checkout/paydotcom are some of the trusted alternatives for paypal.

Multiple payment processors are a must personally I like the good ole' Google Checkout. Money transfers quick and people just love anything with Google on it

You need to have an alternative always. You can't just rely on one payment scheme if you're into online business.

    HI All.

Well I got my paypal account back after many emails to them and phone calls... but now I am waiting to see if I am still allow to use them to accept payments on one of my major sites... It is a directory.. and I had a few sites listed that paypal did not like, but after looking at so many directories out there I have seen there are many sites in those directories to that paypal would close accounts for..

And I was being really careful when accepting sites in my directory.. I reject a lot.. but I guess a few got through that I thought were ok.. but guess not...

So if anyone here is running a directory check the sites in it because paypal will catch up with you too.

    Thx
    Tom

It would definitely be inconvenient for sure. I know there are other options but it would take me quite some time to change all my links (I have a lot of products!).

I think the most inconvenient thing would be if I couldn't buy stuff with paypal though as many places only have that one option for payment.

Glad to hear you got yours back! I read a thread last week where someone else had theirs closed or limited and then got it reinstated so that's encouraging that they actually will look at your account and reinstate you!
