Default Commenting on related nofollow blogs - waste of time?

I have a wii related site. Found many related blogs to comment on just by searching "wii blog", but most of these are nofollow. But I decide to just comment anyway.

Am I just wasting my time? Considering these links are atleast from related sites, will it atleast help me a little with my SE rankings / backlinks?

Not necessarily, as there are many SE's that ignore the "no follow" tags.

Probably just make sure the blog is ranked well and gets a lot of traffic.

And don't forget about click traffic as well.

Hmm, what if I'm only concerned about what Google thinks?

I'm starting to climb up for the term I'm trying to rank for. I'm now 8th. Just wondering if nofollow blog commenting is going to help me "climb" further, or if it's just a waste of time? so I know to focus my link building efforts elsewhere.

Thanks

Well... that's up to you, but probably not a wise choice.

Good luck.

if your only interest in blog commenting is backlinks then you may be missing a huge piece of the puzzle... there is a bigger picture than just backlinks..

I just returned from a conference 2 weeks ago and we had a well know SEO expert sharing info w/ us. His company tracks and tests different factors and options for on and off page SEO.

What they have found is the nofollows do bleed through and give additional juice and ranking to sites but they are not as powerful as dofollow links.

He does use them to link to his sites.

Hope this helps,
Joe

Yep, I agree....sometime we can post a useful (even controversial) on someone else's blogs to attract human eyes and NOT just SE bot

Yup! As long as you sit there and comment / contribute like you would in a forum. You'll get traffic and make a few friends too I'm sure.

Now if you just want to slap in some canned comment like "I was searching the engines and came across your site... Nice job!? You'll be wasting your time.

Even if the blog is nofollow, if the blog has good traffic, you can receive lots of qulity free traffic by leaving quality comments on the blog.

How long does it really take to post a blog post anyway? If the blog gets a decent amount of traffic and is well regarded in its niche, I think it's worth spending 5 minutes writing a comment, a few times a day.

Thanks guys, I guess I'm going to stick to what I'm doing now.

To be honest, I think I'm leaving decent comments. Not stuff like "nice article/post", I try to atleast write up 2 sentences. Not too hard for me considering I own a wii.

Thanks again
