My blog featured on a major news channel and interviewed

So my site was featured on a major news channel and I was shown on video showing talking about my blog topic.

I get about 30k - 50k hits per month.

I don't have any ads yet on my blog because I never thought of making money off it. It's only the past week that my friends have told me I should try to gets sponsors.

1) I want to take advantage of the exposure but don't know what to do. What's the next step?

2) My blog is about entertainment, what's the best way to contatct potential advertisers and how much should I charge for it?

Thanks.

I think you should first experiment with adsense and then only find direct advertisers.
Experimenting with adsense will give you some bucks and also basic idea about how much CPC , eCPM , CTR your blog will get and you can charge direct sponsors based on the data latter.
You can signup for adesense from google.com/adsense

I would only consider adsense as an option, keeping in mind that is probably is a lesser paying option.

I have a site that does more volume than yours and my adsense nets me about $100 per month... Given that you are in a better defined segment than I am, you should be able to attract specific advertisers to your site more easily...

Drop a link on your About Us page offering advertising on your site, and try different price points. Test prices from month to month, to see how much people would be willing to pay for advertising on your site...

Offer banner and text advertising at different rates, and test your pricing over time...

If you join some CPA networks or affiliate networks that have products in your niche, you can use those ads, when you don't have any paying advertisers... I like CPA best, but it is sometimes hard to get approved by the CPA networks, unless you tell them you are purchasing traffic...

Congratulations! It's a great feeling seeing your site on television isn't it?

If you don't have anything to sell, you should at least use the extra traffic to build a list. Give away something for free on your blog. Put an optin form above the fold and make it highly visible.

I've been telling people that getting publicity is not as difficult as it seems, but many people still don't believe they can do it. Hopefully by seeing others besides me doing it, people will finally grow a pair and explore the opportunity also . The truth is, the media is looking for stories all the time.

Now you can use your media appearance to pitch other appearances. Keep the momentum going. Shoot me a PM if I can help you in any way.

Are affiliate offers out of the question? What if your wrote an Amazon product review, I'm sure you can find something related there?

Ron is right, build a list first... Then think about your audience - who are they? Make an avatar of your user... Then think about what you can market to them... CPA offers? Physical products like Jimmy Choo shoes... Or whatever... Then start testing... I think it would be a waste to focus on adsense.

You should definitely get some adsense up on that site. If you are getting that many uniques then I am positive that a good amount will convert for you.
