ATTN - Amazon Affiliates with new web sites

Hi guys -

I just upgraded ZoneAlarm today ... OK

I decide, WTH, let them install the ZA Toolbar ... enlightening

Went to one of my new Amazon sites and got a warning about it...

OK... not so good...

Went and looked on the ZA site for more info.

Basically they present these warnings for sites under 3 months old...

I went in on each of my new sites and clicked thru saying that the sites were OK (that I trusted them).

I got a message that they'd check Yada, yada, yada...

So... that is the background.

Now what's the point for new Amazon Affliates?

The sites I dealt with today were just 3-4 of a set of domains I bought at about the same time last month.

I was planning to add a site at a time as I go. I have an HG Reseller acct and was going to create each site when I was ready to work on the actual content.

Most of my Amazon Domains are evergreen, but 2 are Holiday based. Hmmmm....

Anyway, I just went in and created the sites for the other domains, ESPECIALLY the Holiday ones.

I am going to slap WP on each and let them sit there until I am ready to go...

The big difference here is that in the eyes of ZA, I have started the aging process.

If I had known about this, I would have done this when I first bought the domains a month ago, but at least I have done it now!

My new strategy will to buy the domain and start the site (with or without content) ASAP....

What we learn....

HTH

Very interesting - I'm sure a lot of people use that and would be put off by that warning. Also, a good reminder to setup our Christmas sites anyway! The earlier the better
    Thanks!

      Exactly! ;-)

Do I think that scads of folks will see the warning? Probably not.

But it is something to be aware of and to decide whether or not you want/need to address the issue.

In my case, I certainly would have started working on the holiday sites last month! LOL

LOL I just bought my LAST Holiday domain and I'm getting all of the sites up right now...

Anyway, I just about fell off my chair when I discovered this today.

        Who'd a thunk!

ZoneAlarm is a firewall/virus protection software...

How does ZA determine the age of each site? Do they run a whois for every place you visit? Seems like that could be a lot of overhead and could greatly slow things down.

      Peace

I don' t know. ;-) I didn't notice any appreciable slowdown today when I was working on the new sites I just created...

Maybe someone else can answer this question...

But, in any event how they do it is pretty much a moot point.

The fact that they can and are doing it is the concern for me...
