INTERNET MARKETING

Good day fellow warriors,

Can't find a solution.

I want to create a redirection page with an analytics code on it.

(goal: when people click on the aff. link they are brought to redirect page which registers their visit and then brings them to the Merchant's site)

I thought of using meta redirect, but some browsers ignore it...

Not sure about Java redirects, since the browser might read the "redirect" code only and ignore the analytics code

When you say analytics do you mean "Google Analytics" or would any stat tracking do you?

This isn't an ideal way to track it since it'll fail if Javascript is turned off and people will probably be annoyed by the wait but this will do what you want.

Going to have a look to see if GA handles this in a nicer way since it seems like a fairly common thing to want to do.

Aha! Here we go. This page describes it really well -

Low Limit Affiliate: Tracking Affiliate Links in Google Analytics

Exactly how to edit your links so GA tracks it properly with no silly redirects like I described above.

For those that want the cliff notes -

Create a redirect page on your site eg goto.php that redirects based on a query string parameter. Eg you send people to goto.php?site=clickbank and it sends them on to clickbank. Then you edit your links as follows -
