Tagging - How is it Done?

I have a question regarding tagging in wordpress.

When we are posting our articles or content... how exactly do we populate the tags section.

Do we typed in full keyword phrases such as:
Lose Weight Now


Or just one word like...
Lose
Weight
Now



Please advise..

    lose weight now, something else, yet another tag = 3 tags separated by commas

    lose, weight, now, something, else, yet, another, tag = 8 tags separated by commas
    (actually it does say on the admin panel to separate them with commas!)
