Hi everyone,

Here is my question:

At my blog ( http://thekeywordresearchshortcut.com/blog ) I have the front page set to a static page which means the page where you actually see my posts is displayed as /blog/recent. View that here if you need to.

What I'd like to do is basically "move things back/up a level". (Is that the best way to word it?)

So basically I want my domain ( http://thekeywordresearchshortcut.com ) to be the blog's Home/front page and the /blog to be what the /blog/recent (Blog Page) is now.

What is the recommended easiest and best way to do this without messing up all my permalinks and backlinks?

Hope my question makes sense, and I do appreciate any advice you can give.

All the best,
Derek

I'm not sure what you are trying to do. You put your blog in a directory named "blog". Are you trying move your blog from that directory "blog" to the top level of your domain?

Yes, without losing things such as backlinks.

Is it just as simple as moving the blog, and setting up a redirect?

    Hello,

It depends on the wordpress theme you are using. There are some wordpress theme likeClean Home 1.2.0 by Mid Mo design that comes with only "about us" page. So, you can add a page which you can easily redirect to you main domain name using the plugin - page link to. You just put the URL of your main directory in the page link to form on the Home page created.

You can also achieve what you are trying to do by editing the theme from your file manager (Cpanel), if the theme you are using already have "Home". All you have to do is to change the home in the theme to Blog or whatever you what to name it and create another page which will be called Home and redirected to your main page. I hope this will help.

    Good Luck!

I made a blog post for you.It has pictures(http://www.imjunkies.com)- here is how I would do it.

Move your index.php from the subdirectory to the root directory. The root directory should have a /public_html/ (like below) Make sure to move index.php and not copy it.

Open and add you sub directory to index.php. You are looking for this line:

        require('./wp-blog-header.php');

Add the name of your subdirectory to the file, like pictured below. In the picture I have added "blog" to the code. So that it looks like this:

        Step 3:

Sign in to your wordpres admin, it should be

        www.yourwebsite.com/your sub directory/wp-admin

        Step 4:

Go to the setting tab and click on general. Change the blog address URL to www.yourwebsite.com

You should deleting the subdirectory off the backend of your root domain.

You probably would have to set up a redirect for your links.
