Where to start? Information overload!

ok... i've been reading through the site, and i have to say, i never knew you could actually make a decent living from blogging... i have the time and the will, and would love to give this a go.

i have no idea where to start... there's so many members with sites on how to do this... at the moment, i'm bouncing around, a little dazed and confused as who's advice to take.

i found a link to this guys site, Yaro Starak, i'm sure you've heard of him? i want to invest some time in this, and don't wanna back the wrong horse, so to speak... anyone recommend this guy?

and now, a few questions... for a new and budding internet marketeer!

1) i'm currently developing an online store, pet dog products, should i have a blog related to this? i do love dogs, but not sure if i can blog about them on a daily basis... is this where buying articles comes in? or maybe you have a more ingenious way i can market my store... i don't have much capital.

should i be looking at buying a ready made blog?

2) i'd like to have my own blog, should i really be looking at something i'm interested in? i love backpacking and have years experience in it.... and have lots of useful info on the subject, should i blog about this?

3) what's the main revenue stream from your blog, google ads, amazon?

4) how long did it take your own blog to take off... i don't mind investing the time, i'm just curious as to the average time it takes, for a decent blog to take off

thanks for your time, appreciate it

Buying a ready made blog is a nice idea but you will get more benefits if you make your own.
You should be good in the field you want to blog and have a lot of info. But always remember that you can blog about anything there are every types of peoples in WWW and you can make any type of website still you will get visitors if you do good SEO.

i'm a web/graphic designer, so, i can make the blog look good... but understand that the content is essential... as is the seo.

no offence to the people selling these blogs, but from what i've seen, the design is quite poor... but understand it's the blog and content they're selling...

A great way to avoid information overload is to have good filters. You will get swamped if you don't back away and take a breath.

A good first question to ask yourself is "what are my strengths".

Employers tend to have employees take lame courses to make them better at the things they stink at rather than finding out what their strengths are and building on them.

There are MANY different models/methods to build a business online. Find ONE that speaks to you and stick with it.

    Welcome to the journey!

I think Yaro might be ok.... maybe someone else can chime in.

backpacking, hiking, traveling for cheap, lifestyle design, sounds good to me. Take a look at other blogs out there in that niche and I am sure you can determine what to do from their for 80% of things at least.

If you can't stomach writing blogs then you will have to pay someone to do it. However, there are little tricks to knock out articles everyday that some use to write them. Granted your still going to have to write, but, maybe it will go smoother and faster with the writing techniques some use to write.

I suspect you should start here. Then maybe the pet thing. That way you can pay someone later
