Guys, I own the #1 Spot. Please Stop Spamming Me.

LMAO

This has got to be one of the most funny things I ever saw in 6 years working IM fulltime.

A couple of s.p.a.m.m.e.r.s. keep sending me emails on how they can rank ONE particular site on Google's top 10 for my keywords. Problem is, that particular site is #1 for a long, long time.

Funny thing is: I own way more then 1 site (200 plus, actually) and they keep hitting ONLY that one. :p

Dude, give me a break. I own the #1 Spot. Please Stop Spamming Me.

Or at least, choose another one from the list!!!

      Same here.

My site has been #1 for 7 years but they keep sending me emails on how they can improve my ranking.

They're spammers. They're probably hoping to catch people that don't realize they've already got the #1 spot.

So, maybe the unsuspecting victim sends them money and the spammer can send a link back saying, "See, we got you to #1 already. Got any other sites?"

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

I actually get a phone call like this every now and then on how they can take my website and bring it to #1 on Google.

I personally think that these companies are a total and complete SCAM.

They are just out there to get your money and RUN away.

They are just like the idiots who keep sending me letters VIA snail mail suggesting that I renew my domain names with their company at a whopping $35.00 per domain per year for .com.

      WTH?

They claim their pricing is the best in the market.

Even after I started marking the letters, "Refused by recipient; Return to Sender" they just keep sending them, one letter per domain.

Hate'm but you gotta love'm because they don't stop trying

I nearly fell for this one.
I have yet to renew a domain name (noob) and when I got the invoice I thought it was legit and that the price went up that much after the first year.
Wondered how the hell I was going to finance this whole IM thing.
        Fortunately I figured it out...
        cheers

That could be true if when they say "market" they are referring to companies that try to rip people off through the mail.

        Just a thought.

that always happens. People are just jealous thats why. No need to worry there if you own the #1 spot. Just block them if you have too. That's what I normally do

Got a call from one SEO company asking if I would be interested in some help ranking my domain for that specific keyword using popular techniques like social bookmarking and directory submissions LOL. My answer: Well you see I already rank #1 for that keyword and I have 3 large databases backing that domain with over 100k links coming from each spread over 60 ips. I get over 30 blackhat sites receiving backlinks for that one domain plus multiple link laundering sites, over 100 web 2.0 properties and a pretty large autoblog network... Never heard from them again.

You should have told him he didn't know what he's talking about. Google ranks PAGES not SITES. Tell him a real SEO professional would know that.

    Hi Guys

Love the posts, it seems like it's open season for telephone calls from companies promising the Earth in double quick time - the last two calls I had offered this for the small price of £500 ($780 US) per month for the privaledge.

Unlike you guys I'm still a Newbie at SEO and don't have a number 1 spot to speak of for my Website and Keywords (currently on page 2) so they think I'm an easy target, however I'm not that stupid, but I know of others who are

    Rgds

    Ken
    P.S.
Any tips you can spare would be most welcome

I think most are spammers but, I reckon some of them have to be newbies that got sold a "how to make you fortune as an SEO expert" course

As soon as they are faced with someone who actually knows more than them they run feeling into the night

Sadly as redic to us as they may seem there are millions of people out there that know less than them.

I even recall seeing someone on another forum I post on asking for help, he had just scored a job at some company as their in house SEO guy and he had no clue what to do ....FACE PALM!!

What's also funny is that if you actually listen to their sales pitch presentation, they'll bring up google keyword tool and not tell you it's on broad and be like "oh look you have 15k search a month for "blue widget" if you get even 1 percent of those that's like 150 sales you'll make so much money
