Is it possible to edit/change the text of a pdf that you've downloaded? If so how please?

Thanks

There are tools for that... although the main question is: do you have the right to do so?
If it is a copyrighted material you can NOT edit/change it.

Also, keep in mind a pdf formats itself much differently than a word document.

It saves things line by line - so it can mess up the entire document sometimes when you make one or two little changes.

You're better off asking for the word or text version of the original (that you have rights to edit) and making your adjustments - then turning into a fresh PDF.

I like Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0. It's pretty easy to use. However I agree with Istvan, don't go trying to change copyrighted stuff.

What exactly are you trying to do? Do you just want to highlight sections and make notes like you would in the margins of a physical book? There are many possible answers given you've not provided a lot of information - a basic one is how was the pdf created - what tool/version/ etc? What are the protections in place on the file - which adobe reader at the least should be able to provide.

    Hello Alice:

I think foxitsoftware.com has what your are looking for. They sell a stand-alone pdf editor for which you can get a free six-month licence.

Their product line provides an alternative to Adobe's. Also, they provide a free pdf reader.
