I got my blog indexed...

... but it only shows up as when i search for the website with the .com, and not without it. For this niche there are only about 50,000 other pages so I figure it shouldn't bee too hard getting my blog on the first page right? Well I am doing an amazon affiliate review blog with a free blog on blogger, and was wondering how I can seo the specific posts so when some one searches for that product my blog will come up first? I know about the meta tags, but doesn't that only work for the main page or is it for every page on the blog?

Also on the Amazon affiliate website it says that I have 11 clicks, and was wondering if the clicks i make counted, because 11 clicks sounds a bit too high for me right now.

Also I know I should just buy a domain and hosting, however I am just starting out and I am learning all I can for free before I start spending money.

Look at it this way: would you rather be competing for rankings in a niche with 12,000,000 sites listed, but the ones on the first page include some PR-0 sites without many backlinks, and some article-directory articles (probably easy to rank well); or in a niche with 12,000 sites listed, where the whole of the first page comprises age-old, high-PR authority sites with 100,000 backlinks (probably impossible ever to rank very well)?

Its the quality of the "competition" that matters; not the quantity.

Your only competition is 10 sites (maybe only 5, realistically, because you want to be in the top half of the first page).

It doesn't matter whether they're 5 out of 12,000,000 others, or 5 out of 12,000 others, does it, if you're competing with only 5 of them anyway?

I hear you. Did you know that you can buy a .info domain-name for $1 from GoDaddy, and get good, reliable, free hosting (without any of the host's advertising/promotion on your site, as some have) at byethost.com?

      Good luck!

PS - the first sentence on your blog says "With the DeLonghi DFH132 SafeHeat Fan Heater you will need to worry about anything overheating and starting a fire". I think you need to insert the word "not" in there, somewhere?
Thanks lol... the blog in my sig is not the site I'm talking about though , its something else.

Also this free hosting sounds interesting. So I just have to pay $1 and nothing else? will I will be able to use wordpress? Also I heard that Google doesn't like .info is this true?

Getting your site indexed is the easy bit, getting it ranked is a touch different. If you're quite new you may want to look at challenge.co its very good for beginners and explains very well what was said above: it's not how much competition but how good it is. From what I can see you google searched yourdomain.com and your site came up but not without the .com.
Google is showing yourdomain.com as it's most relevant to what you searched, when you remove the .com there's obviously a bunch of sites who are optimised for that keyword better than your site. You also say you have a blogger blog, is that it? Not being rude I just mean have you got any other web2 sites, articles etc? If not I reckon going to the challenge and having a look will help you out. If I could just set up a blogger blog and rank on the first page by now I'd be one rich dude. Well,... much richer than now.

I'm interested in seeing some of the replies to this thread as I'm in the same spot. I have my own site but I'm starting to build niche blogs. I just finished Parakeet Paradise - How to Care for, Breed, and Train Your Parakeets yesterday. I'm interested in how you got it indexed? And how long did it take to get it indexed?

I would assume it is $1 per year. Yes, once you have your own domain, you would then be able to install Wordpress. Wordpress is great for beginners (and advanced members too ).

Your ranking depends only in part on your on page SEO efforts. Initially you will need to do some back linking using your product name keyword linking back to the post that you wrote in order to get indexed and ranked for your keywords.

For example, if you wrote about a specific model of Hoover Vacuums you will need to use anchor text "Hoover 123XXX" in your backlinks coming back to that post. This way you can rank specific posts for specified keywords. This will work along with your on page SEO efforts of course.

Also, I am assuming that based on the information previously given to you that you will now do effective keyword research that includes the strength of the competition and not just the number of competing sites. Also check the demand before choosing products.

One more point, for my larger Amazon sites I have found that I no longer have to put much effort into ranking individual posts anymore since I post consistently and Google seems to index often. My posts seem to show up and "stick" for my selected keywords the very next day or at most within two days on the first or second page with no effort on my part.

I credit it to consistency and perhaps proper keyword research. With some backlinks thrown in I can usually make it above the fold on the first page and sometimes I am quite satisfied with that.

BEWARE: I am not trying to make it sound easy, its not. You just have to lay a proper foundation for your site and be consistent. Too often I see people start off with one project and leave it behind to go chase the next BIG thing.

As far as I know all clicks count, whether they are yours or a visitor to your site.
