Can Someone Critique my blog?

Come In Peace Or Leave In Pieces

Self Defense...

The niche is simple... People have a Problem of feeling helpless, or a desire to learn fighting techniques, So I'm solving that problem by collecting useful info and posting it to my blog for them to learn and practice.

I think its good...

what can I do from here? I was thinking of hitting up all the body building MMA and boxing forums up and promoting.

I'm Going to try and take all my passions and turn them into niches and see if I cant figure out a way to make money off them.

Looks good. I am not a big fan of dark backgrounds but yours looks nice and clean. No idea what you're going to promote but looks good.

Are you serious about this blog?

If you are, you seriously need to get your own hosted blog.

I agree, you must get your own domain, or you'll just be helping blogspot even more.

Get your own domain and hosting and use blogger or whatever to point back to your main site. May be worth having the domain as a keyword preferably one thats got lots of searches but the competitions beatable.

Yea, it's a prototype... So I can get the hang of promoting.

    What's the perks of hosting?

I agree with vicalexan - You should get a domain name and hosting and self-host this blog...

      The reasons as these:

      1. Think of it from the visitors point of view - If you are intending to sell products/services in the blog, and you want to get people to buy, put yourself in the shoes of a customer - Would you prefer to buy from a site with a .com/.net domain name or a .blogspot.com domain?

      2. When it comes to applying for acceptance to affiliate networks, many a times you will be asked to enter your website URL - And they will look at it when they are considering whether or not to accept you into a network - And chances are, when they see that your website is a blogspot blog, they will not likely accept your application (this is based on personal experience)

      3. With your blog hosted under blogspot, you are under the mercy of blogspot - Should it come a fine day where they decide to impose a fee or decide to come out with some rulings and then for some reason whatsoever, deem your blog to be against any new terms of use (for blogspot) and shuts it down, then all your effort (to build up the blog all these while) will be for nothing... By hosting the blog yourself, you will not be subjected to this issue.

These are the reasons why I think you should get your own domain name and hosting and host the blog yourself.

      Hope this answers your question...

      Cheers

Basically with a hosted site you can add plugins and totally design the sites and feel. Also if your site does get big enough you can start charging fees for people to advertise on it. You will also get better rankings in the search engine for people looking for your targeted keywords. Think about it blogspot is a kind of waste of time because you are very limited to what you can do. If you wanted have a free site you are better off with wordrpress, they are free.

    Just my quick input.
You should add some Sub-Title to the top of your blog I think.

I just see at the top "Come In Peace Or Leave In Pieces"

May not sound much like "Defensive Instructions" right away.

    So you can put:

Title: Come In Peace Or Leave In Pieces
Sub-Title: Learn Self Defense for the Real World

This way, when I visit your page, I am more likely to stay there, because I know what the blog is about.

It can also help with SEO, as you put some good keyword to the top of your site.

I hope this helps you some bit.

Get your own blog domain name and hosting. This allows you to have full control over your site, you will appear more professsional, and you will brand yourself better.

People purchase from people they know, like, and trust.

What's this blog actually about and what is it's point? At the moment it's just a collection of someone else's YouTube videos.

Are you a self defense teacher? If so, write about self-defense and use the videos to illustrate your lessons.

Ditto getting your own domain and hosting if you are serious, for all the named reasons.

Like rosetrees, all I see is a handful of other people's YouTube videos, mainly on MMA fighting. I really don't see anything that would have me thinking "self defense"...

Even then, I don't get the connection between MMA and self-defense. MMA has rules, and it's a match between similarly sized and equipped, trained opponents. You can survive a MMA match just by tapping out.

Your main asset at this point is a catchy, macho tag line. Go back to the beginning and think about people who might be attracted to that tag line.

I'm guessing that you'll have a tough row to hoe trying to pimp a null-content self-defense blog on fighting and MMA forums, especially if you try to "hit them all up and start promoting"...

You might do better promoting this tag line to those who feel bullied and want to get even by kicking the bully's butt and beating some respect into them. If you can, dig up an old comic book with the Charles Atlas ad on the back. That ad had nothing to do with self defense, regardless of what some of the copy might have implied. It had everything to do with whipping the bully at his own game and getting laid afterward. The kind of people who might have bought that course are your real market...
