Giveaway events and warrior forum

I have been participating in lots of giveaways events lately and was wondering what the rules were in WF for promoting those. I know I've seen some ppl promoting giveaway events in their sig file but isn't that technically an affiliate link? I've never promoted any on WF and was wondering if thats "legal". I know WF will ban someone quick so any info would be helpful. The reason I ask is b/c I'm sure others would find the links to giveaways helpful but don't want to put my account in jeopardy.

You can only promote a giveaway event if you are the one hosting it. If you are a JV for it, then you can't promote it here. If you do see anyone who is doing that then report the post and the mods will take care of it.

And the younger, the more cocky?

The problem was that you posted your opinion as fact - and then had to defend it. It's great to share what you have found to work well for you - but not to extrapolate it into a "this is THE way". That, in a nutshell, was the entire problem.

Coby - You could also start your own giveaway and post in the JV section to find other marketers who might be interested in participating. Then you would be using your site and could put it in your sig.

My problem is i'm young and grumpy, lol.

But back to the subject at hand, would it be unethical to ask people to PM if they were interested in participating in a giveaway event?

Oh and someone mentioned I should report those that I noticed were promoting giveaways in their sig (as an affilliate link). I wouldn't feel comfortable doing this as I have actually found a few giveaways this way, lol.

And as Sbucciarel and Kay mentioned starting my own giveaway isn't really an option. I don't feel I have the experience for that yet. However, if someone could guide me (or even JV with me) I'd be happy to learn how to host one of these events. But maybe i'm just being scared. If someone has info to starting a giveaway please post some info here and I would really appreciate it.

I'm also not against a PM, lol.

Don't PM people you don't know with commercial offers -- that's spam. Yep, that'll get you banned. (It's really no different than plucking emails from this forum and emailing people a commercial offer.)

          Cheers,

You can also pay the $20 and do a Free WSO. If a giveaway involves too much self promotion or opt in to get the giveaway, it's usually deleted from the main forum.

You could start your own giveaway event directory/calendar website on your own domain and put that in your sig. Each link to those giveaways would have your affiliate/JV link.

I don't think you can do that either since WSO's must be a product you own. Giveaways I've seen use a third-party software/script and then contributors upload their product/PLR stuff so I don't see how it qualifies for a WSO. That's just my opinion of course. A WSO mod would know.

You can promote affiliate links (of which is this one) in the Classifieds system for $20, but these wouldn't qualify as a WSO.

Coby, the easiest way to promote a Giveaway without paying is to promote it via a safelist (i.e. listjoe, yourezad, etc)

That you, you can earn promotion credit if someone click your link.

I'm sorry I should have been more clear. I wasn't asking how to promote them as a member but rather how I could HOST my own giveaway event.

Sorry for the misunderstanding (sometimes my brain works against me, lol)
