Should I approve all comments now?

Hi,

I read a little about the new Google algorithm which now considers content, backlinks and page activity, so my question is should I approve all those junk and spammy comments left on my blogs to increase the activity on my sites?

If that would really help the gain activity on your site, why not. If you are wanting to have more traffic for your site, try to be more innovative, make your page eye catching. users usually favor those sites who can capture their attention.

Google is not going to count a bunch of spam comments as activity. Spam comments could actually hurt your position because of all the links to crap sites, like porn and pharma sites. One of the things that I understood as activity was whether or not your site got clicked on in the serps and if so, how long the person stayed on the site and if they opened other pages. That's a whole lot more relevant than spam comments.

Google probably won't count junk/spam comments.

If anything it might penalize your site.

There are various tactics to use to get people to post genuine comments, one thing I've noticed recently is offering a prize to the best comment.

People are competitive and love to win stuff.

Even if spam comments helped rank a webpage - I still wouldn't approve them.

They would seriously hinder the experience of any potential customer to your site...

I agree with those who said you should get rid of the spammy comments. Google will not consider them content and will recognize them as spam so it could actually hurt your site to include spammy comments.

Don't. Instead, spend your time creating good content for your site that will encourage real people to leave real comments.
