Gene Pimentel earns a full time living (probably a very good full time living) from domain flipping. I flip websites and domains, so my income is split.

Unfortunately, I do not know anybody who makes money with this.

If there are, I would like to to know who they are.

I know of a couple of guys personally who do some domain flipping, but I've never met anyone who can do it as their sole basis of income. I get the feeling it would require a certain amount of gut instinct.

I go through expired lists occasionally to see what I might find and they are great for finding those domains that slip through the cracks, as everyone else tends to just hunt the big niches and ignore everything else.

But it does take a lot of perseverance to look through a list, sometimes hours and if you do not know what you are looking for it can be frustrating.

11,000+ expired domains I went through the other day, I found 14 with potential and only 2 that I would happily have a punt on, even for $10

Those though I would be likely be able to sell for $500+ each so not a bad night at all with a cup of coffee and a beer in equal measure.

99.99999% of domain flipping is in the "low level" arena, it is actually not that common to find high value sales anymore.

Google did recently buy like.com for $100M and insurance.com was sold for $35.6M but these are on the extreme end.

Most go for around the $100 mark.

Google paid for the technology behind like.com not just the domain name.

I'm using Gene's method in his free report. I'll get off my *ss today and write the emails to the 15 or so companies that are either paying for my keyword, or on page 3-5 for it. I'm interested to see if I've only convinced myself they've no reason not to buy, or if it's harder than I'd imagined.

I'll tell you this... selling is still selling, whether it's domains or ice cream cones. I believe it comes down to the sales pitch/presentation. And based on my experiments, I intend to create an adjunct to Gene's report to help people flip their domains through his method.

Currently, I'm looking at 800 numbers so I don't have to give my personal number out to all these unknown people (it doesn't always go straight to business owner) and who knows if a biz is professional, or just appears professional but is really in a basement run by a psycho.

I'll update when I get some results.

ps. btw, up until now, Gene's report was ridiculously easy and I ranked page #1 for a very decent keyword for which people are paying $5 on average. It's dancing between position #1 and #8, so I'm tempted to do a little SEO but I'm trying to stay true to the report and see if a page 1 will still sell to someone on page 3, or someone paying $5/click, without tweaking the site at all. If it doesn't sell, perhaps I'll tweak.

Like some one said here.. you are better to make a site for your domains... can get it listed in the top 10 of google then contact people to buy your domain yuo will get a lot more...

Depending on your domain and your niche you can get your site in the top 10 in 1 month - 3 months.....

Doing it part-time, I've sold about 10 names in the last 3 years. If I was more active, I probably could have sold more.

    HI

If you can find a domain for reg fee and you think you can flip it in 12months for double then it is worth buying... but you should also park your names..

You only need 0.05 per day to pay for the renewal costs and the older the name gets the more it will be worth in the long run.

You can get a hosting account now... that allows you to host unlimited domains... and in you cpanel you can install Wp.... you can get plr articles for free.. put adsense in that and some affiliate links and spend 10-20 hours building backlinks.. and you site will make $50 per year

    Now make 100 of them

    Thx
    Tom

I've flipped a few domains, the most I ever made on a single domain flip was $7,500 though (So far). I normally buy domains to develop, monetize, & keep as part of my personal network for consistent revenue vs. one time sales (flips). I do occasionally sale one of my domains / sites to end users that contact me & make an offer I can't refuse, but for the most part I find it more of a sustainable business model to market what I already have & live off the reoccurring streams of revenue generated by them.

To each their own though, we all do things a bit differently & normally what works for one person, won't work for another.

I used to domain flip on eBay. Marginal success. Domain flipping elsewhere is next to impossible for a number of reasons.

Good money can be made via domain flipping. Like everything though, you need to learn the ropes, have a strategy, be willing to make mistakes (as long as you learn from them) and keep at it. Out of all our domain investment income, flipping accounts for the smallest percentage. We see more opportunities in developing our domains, so I would encourage you to look beyond flipping to all the various ways to monetize domains.

website flipping is much more lucrative, I dont know how people make any real money flipping domains unless they get very lucky. I flip websites and make 25K each minimum or its not worth my time. I have 20K a month in payroll though so I have to make lots of money just to keep the office up and running.

As long as you get the right domain, and right instincts it's easy to make a good little income from the domains. It can be a lot of hard work however, but the payoffs could be potentially massive.
