What System Do You Use For Keyword Research?

On a different thread I asked what people meant when they say you have to have a system, and many people gave an example of repeating same steps for every keyword research. So I decided to ask a follow up questionin a seperate post because I know a lot of people would be interested to see it.

What system do you use for keyword research?

Anything you don't mind sharing is appreciated.

Persanally I use Traffic Travis free tool, I look at page rank of first 10 results in google and if there are aren't many 2's and above and if eza like articles show up I go for it.

Not the best system, hence this post.

    I believe google adwords keyword tool is the best tool for doing keyword research, and it's free.

    I personally use Micro Niche Finder. I think it's one of the best and worth every penny. It's worked quite well in my keyword research and making smart decisions.

    Here are the steps I take if I already know my niche:

    - fire up Google Keyword tool, and get the exact searches for my main keyword
    - go to the free WordTracker tool and see what additional key phrases I can get from there (WordTracker shows daily searches as opposed to Google which shows monthly searches)
    - check out my main competitors in the Google keyword tool to see what other key phrases they are targeting
    - take all the key phrases I found and put them into my Market Samurai, and run the keyword analyzer there
    - pick 3-5 key phrases I find interesting and do SEO competition with Market Samurai, to see how hard/easy it is to rank for those specific phrases.
    - use my new-found key phrases in whichever manner I want (to write articles for directories, posts for my blog/site, create videos, etc.)
    - rinse and repeat
