Does Amazon convert well or not?

Ok, I've been reading several posts, blogs, etc. off the internet that have said Amazon is one of the best AM sites since it converts highly. But then again I hear people say Amazon converts poorly so which is it?

I'd like to try using Wal Mart since everyone pretty much goes there and it's very easy to have it shipped to your store free of charge.

It depends on a couple of factors. Some of which are:

The niche market you are in
    The Product you are promoting
What kind of website you have (review etc.)

    and many others

My advice would be to get started with amazon and find out for yourself.

EDIT: Yes, amazon converts amazingly for me in most of the niche markets.

It all depends on how targeted your traffic is. If your getting people on your site looking for iphones and your selling backpacks, do not expect that much of a conversion.

The more targeted traffic you get, the better conversions you will have.

One way to check your traffic is to check your google analytics and check your bounce rate.

I'am willing to bet, the people that are not making sales are probably not getting very targeted traffic. Either not getting targeted traffic, or their not getting human traffic. As in all of their traffic is bots.

Amazon does convert well. I mean just look at what they offer...It's hard not to convert well with their selection of products. However, IMO their payouts absolutely S***K! I used to promote their products and found it very difficult to turn a profit with such low payouts.

In addition they occupy just about every top spot in the SERPS for every decent product.

There are people having success with amazon I'm sure, I have just found many other ways to make more money with a lot less work.

It depends on what you are selling...

It may work well for books, although I have never sold books thru it...

It works best for those hard-to-find items that people want to buy quickly and without hassle... I use it to sell some over-the-counter natural remedies that are not sold thru MLM channels, and I use it to sell another difficult to find product type...

I don't make a killing, but I make enough to justify continuing to put some resources behind pushing those products...

Both product lines convert well, but the affiliate commission is 4-7%, so you need to sell a lot to really make it count...

That line says it all when it comes to the question most people ask about how to be successful in Internet Marketing.

I ask because two programs I am reading(Enigma Marketing Method and Bum Marketing) suggest Amazon iirc.

Is Clickbank the only one out there with good commissions or are there others?

There are many others. I happen to like Commission Junction the best although I remember in the beginning it was difficult getting accepted by some of the advertisers.

It converts well but the pay is a bit low imo.

I get anywhere from 6% - 12% each month through Associates...

It does convert well but you've got to do your homework. Research your products as well as your keywords.

By the way, there's lots of great categories on Amazon that very few people promote. How do I know? Research, research, research

Everyone seems to gravitate toward the electronic devices categories on Amazon. Meanwhile there's a goldmine of categories and products that you can go after that has very little competition.

My Amazon converts well and the trick is to find high paying products, if you get 7% +/- on a sale, find items in the $300 + range. Most of the traffic I send to Amazon through my affiliate sites converts around 10% of the time, which I find extremely well, especially considering that's about $20-$30 per conversion.
