Am I smart or dumb in investing in this?

Hey guys,

I have an offline niche that I am looking into. It's a particular offline service and it is in a particular, non-seo established city of 28K people. This niche only had 73 searches last month, but, no one in this city has done ANY marketing work at all.

I was thinking of making the web address citynameservice.com

What do you think?

Hi there, do you mean that there are no competing pages for your suggested keyword or just none optimized for them? The reason I ask is that I have been told that if you don't notice any competition at all for a particular keyword then it probably means there is no money in it (I don't know if this is true or not). But if you are targeting offline target market then that won't really matter as much, would it?

It sounds like you could make some money in your local area if no-one else has offered online services to offline markets - so to me it sounds like a good idea.

    best wishes

Well, this city appears to be a SEO - virgin (I hate to use that terminology - it's crude.) But, it appears that I would be the first to go in and purchase some good web "real estate." Eventually, hopefully, it would pay off in this rural town of 28K.

I don't have enough information to answer this question.

There are many different factors that go into deciding if a niche is profitable or not so you simply can't figure it out by looking at just the competition.

    How much is the investment?

If it's something you can easily afford, go ahead with it.

I mean, the worst that could happen is you won't make any money. you will still gain a TON of experience. And most importantly, you won't waste your time thinking about it.

My only expense is the expense of domain names and hosting.

I think I see an acre of diamonds, but, just want to make sure it's not an acre of coal.

But, diamonds eventually turn into coal, which is good.

You probably won't be able to build a business on this. Go for something with a mass market or very expensive with a small niche.

I don't think it is a smart choice.
