A Couple of WordPress questions... So Excited!

I just installed Wordpress for my first time on a brand new website, now I spose I gotta learn how to use it, but first... now that it's installed and I'm on the main page, how do I get a new template like I see ones that are especially made for certain themes. I know nothing about it and know there's tons of... um is Plugins the word? Basically so it changes the look of the blog/page. Can anyone clue me in here if I'm using the right word, how to do it, etc.?

Secondly, on a small technical note I accidentally installed it to a subdomain rather than the main domain, it seems like I might need to completely uninstall it to move it as I tried just going through my FTP but manually moving the files out of that subdomain folder to my main domain wasn't working. Can anyone clue me in here, as well?

If you've not made many posts, I'd just set it up properly in your main domain and copy stuff across.

As for themes - in your WP Admin, go to Appearance->Themes. You can browse through free themes right there and install them to have a play with.

Premium themes such as Thesis and Woo can be found if you google for 'premium wordpress themes'. But there are loads out there - don't get too distracted. I'd go for a free theme until you're comfortable working with Wordpress.

WordPress is for making content sites. If you are going to create content for your site, I suggest big boy talk. Using words like "spose" and "gotta" will make your visitors run for the hills. This forum is a good place to start practicing talking like the big kids.

Proper grammar - yes. But in different geographical locations, certain slang text is perfectly acceptable.

For an example, I use the terms "yall" and "aint" quit often. Because here in East Texas, those terms are socially acceptable.

If terms like "yall" and "aint", aint acceptable in your part of the world, I dont know what to tell you, because I aint gonna to stop using 'em.

That is the difference between living in New York city, and the piney woods of East Texas. And I think that a persons blog should reflect that difference.

There is a big difference between adding a little slang that reflects your personality and writing like you are a sixth grade little girl that dots her i's with little hearts.

the OP was asking about WordPress not for grammar lessons...what is your point? To intimidate yet another new Warrior? To make yourself look good? What? Because I really don't think your response was cool at all...

      just saying...

Yes, the best option to move an empty blog - delete the files and uplaod them to the desired location. You can keep the same wp-config.php file. It should work.
Then run the install on the new location.

For the first steps - if you like to read, go to : Main Page WordPress Codex the online manual for WP.

If you are a video person, search the net/youtube - there are tons of instructional videos. (although the Codex might give you an idea what to search for )
