Request for Help Selling a Million Dollar Website

Hey Warriors,

I have been around the forum for quite some time, and around the internet marketing block more than a few times, and I cannot believe the amount of inspiring advice, honest help, and valuable feedback I have received over the years.

I know this is not the place to ask for handouts, or request a step by step solution to a problem...

If it were actually that easy, we would all be rich, right?

However, I do know when to ask for help.

I have the opportunity through my partners to sell a substantially profitable business. I have sold, flipped, and purchased my fair share of sites over the years but nothing quite as profitable or proven as this.

For obvious reasons I do not want to give out all the details of the site, but its value is at least $100,000 and likely well over.

We will be selling the entire company, brand, and all of the sites and products that come along with it. The company/sjte has made over $1,200,000 in 4.5 years and continues to make all kinds of residual income with no other work involved other than some customer support.

My question to you is, where do I go about marketing this type of site/company and how do I reach the audience looking for this kind of opportunity?

Yes I know about SeDo and Flippa, but I think this offer reaches far beyond the common marketpplace in those spots.

We are looking to move this site fast, as we have created a new company, brand, and need to focus all of our efforts on that.

Does anyone have any advice, connections, suggestions, help in this regard in terms of how I can go about marketing this type of site and where?

Again, I do not expect any handouts but any help or advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thank you for everything so far Warriors, you have helped turn my life and career around and I cant wait to keep benefiting the forum and paying it back in any way that I can

Cheers guys, and thank you in advance

Drew

How systematized is it? Is it Michael Gerber E-mythed? The more it looks, acts and smells like a real business the more you can get for it. Because of instead of 10x monthly net like most websites sell for, you might be able to get a multiple for it. I've seen web businesses sell on BizBuySell.com for 3-4x yearly net. If it's systematized with good books, go to a business broker, otherwise you're stuck in the paradigm of selling it just as a website and the lesser money amounts that come from that.

Ultimately though there are big buyers even on Flippa. Sites have been sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars on there. So I wouldn't automatically rule it out.

You need a broker... A buddy of mine just sold his site for $300k using a broker - that was about 3 times his yearly net. It was an ecommerce site... PM me if you want me to hook you up with him...

So why sell a cash cow?

Seriously though, this is a question that legit buyers will ask, so why not answer it here? You say in one sentence it is a producing asset with little work. Then you say you can't afford to spend time on it because you have to focus on another project.

Everytime I see those statements together, it is because the business has tanked in the last few months and the owners are trying to offload it while it has perceived value.

I appreciate the feedback very much, and I know that is a common question that will be asked.

The reason that I have not answered the question in this thread, is simply because this is not a thread that was created with intentions to sell the site.

There are obviously quite a few details that are left out of this post...intentionally.

But I will definitely heed this advice and be sure to answer that type of question in full when I set up an actual auction/sales method.

      Thanks guys
