Google Adword KW Tool - search result discrepancies

Hi all,

Today I have found out that there are huge discrepancies in the search results using the Google Keyword Adwords Search Tool depending on whether or not you are logged in to your Google adwords account.

For example, when not logged in, the exact search count for a keyword I have been targetting gets 5,400 exact results, but when I do the same search when I am logged in to my account, the tool shows only 720 exact results.

This has been quite a revelation to me, and has also gone some way towards explaining my appalling traffic figures to sites that I have ranked on the first page of google for certain keywords.

Firstly, can anyone explain why there is such a huge discrepancy in results depending whether or not you are logged in to your google adwords account.

Secondly, surely these discreepancies undermine the results provided by many of the popular KW research tools that base their results on the Google KW search tools?

I would appreciate your comments regarding these issues.

    That is hard to explain. I never realized that until you pointed that out. I will assume the result you see when logi are only for the paid listings. I might be wrong.
