Will Election Day Have Any Effect On Our Sales?

I am a firm believer that seasons and the economy amongst other things shouldn't have any effect on sales. If it does, then you're doing something wrong or not doing something you should be doing.

I do however believe that such a historical event, such as this Presidential election, will have an effect on sales. People are going to spend all day at work, spend hours at the polls, and when they get home they're going to be glued to their televisions waiting for the results to come in. People are just going to be exhausted by the end of the day.

So, how can you make up for it? Ramp it up, write more articles, do more SEO, rewrite your sales copy, etc...

One big idea is to send an e-mail blast to your list. Create an election day special, have a contest, be a person, etc... Just don't write about politics and appear biased! You might lose some potential sales.

The ultimate outcome of the election might have some long term effects on the way business is done in the near future, but we just have to adapt and make even more sales than we ever did before!

If you are experiencing any sort of dip, don't worry, it'll pass. Afterall, it's just one day.

Also, sales might increase once the election is over since people will have new hope

Well, since we don't live in a bubble, everything around us affects our
      business, including the election.

How we let it affect us depends on how much work we're willing to put in
to see that it affects us positively and not negatively.

Ultimately, we are in control of our business.

My theory is that a LOT of people have a vested interest in the outcome of this election, and will probably be at their computers most of the day, trying to find out what's happening.

My advice is to find an excuse to mail your list tomorrow.

I don't know if it will affect sales. I know I will be glued to my set, but that doesn't interfere with my computer time.

I will personally be at my computer trying to occupy my mind because the anticipation will be to much for me, so I believe that others will also be online surfing and looking for some way to distract there mind.

Personally I think it will have an effect on sales, but no more than a few days. Like you say it, people will spend time at their computers or on their TV, but after a few day it will calm down and things will get back to normal I think.

    Cheers,

When the olympics were on, sales have dropped down but as soon as it ended, sales went up again.

As for the election in the US, I think that more people are VERY much interested to see who will win.

Do I think that sales and traffic will go down somewhat? I do. I think that many people will be glued to the TV to see what is going on and who is on the verge of winning.

As soon as Wednesday comes, buisness is going to go back to its normal ways.

I tend to agree with you- people are too worried about the economy and health insurance, the war etc-I think it will be a stand still day for business and then lots of hopeful buying will ensue in the coming days

I don't think it will effect it too much. Especially if you have customers from outside the United States. I would think that Christmas would have more of an effect than the elections, but I could be wrong.

As soon as this election is over... I think we will start to see more and more sells because the new pres. and media (to a degree) will start preaching hope instead of sorrow.
