Offline Marketing Help

As someone who is considering the possibilities of setting up a consultancy to help offline businesses get more profits from all of their various marketing options, I am still unsure how to handle the website aspect.

Realizing that there will be a number of businesses I come across that already have an existing website, I am not sure how I should handle this aspect with the client when I can tell that there are improvements to be made in the marketing of the website, or how do I go about getting any changes made to these existing websites. (My knowledge of html editing is relatively basic, and I don't have the skills to create much more than a Wordpress blog)

I was wondering if there are any Warriors out there who are willing to offer some advice regarding these questions?

1) When a client gives you the go ahead to be their offline marketing consultant, and they already have a website (that when you browse through it, you can tell from an seo point of view that it hasn't been well optimized) -how do you go about getting this site edited to make the appropriate changes necessary?
2) Also when a client has an existing website with no squeeze page, is it simply a matter of referring inbound traffic to the squeeze page first (to capture email and other details), then once completed through to the website (this way i presume there is no editing of the site required) or is there some other way to effectively capture the inbound browser's details?
3) How do you add a blog page to an existing website?

Is it best to outsource this work if you're not technically expert enough to carry out the changes to the website editing, or other website enhancements?

Thanks in advance for your help

If you aren't well-versed enough to perform the work, yes you can outsource it. Just be prepared to manage the outsourcer(s).

An opt-in can be placed on/within another page, on a pop-up, on a slide-in, or on a squeeze page. Do whatever makes the most sense for their business.

A blog can be installed to a subfolder (i.e. theirdomain.com/blog) or on a separate domain (yourtownplumber.com).

If you're able to provide them with a breadth of marketing and/or process knowledge so that you can help them outside of their website, I think it's OK to outsource the web work. If the website changes are all you're offering, I think you should spend some time learning the basics before picking up clients.

    Hey Warren,

    Definitely be prepared to outsource.

I can build most type of websites so I often make the required changes myself as I like to avoid having anyone else in the middle if I can help it.

If you're not comfortable making the changes then tell them what needs to be done and offer to get quotes if they don't want to do it themselves - all that really matters is that the changes are made, not who does them.

I would suggest that you do still spend some time training yourself to be able to do them so that if you get a case where you being able to do it will make all the difference you want to be able to.

I've learned all sorts of new things just because a client has wanted them. I used to outsource getting flash slideshows done but now I create them myself and I've even created a system where I can make them without touching flash.

It's great to be able to offer lots of stuff and even better if you have the time and inclination to do it yourself, but definitely get some reliable people you can outsource to as it means you never have to say no just because you can't do something yourself.

Kelly answered your other questions so I won't repeat what he said.
