Mothers! I Need Your Help!

If you are a mother, please give me your advice.

I will soon have an email list of over 2,000 moms in a local city. What type of local business is a good business to promote to mothers who have children between the ages of 1 and 18 years old - if you could only promote ONE type of business?

Local spa?

Local gym for women?

Local dentist?

Local family physician?

Local jeweler?

Local plumber who is respectful to women?

Something else?

I want to focus on promoting only one local business for now. What type of business would you promote to other mothers?

Brandon

I just moved to a new city, so I am constantly looking for things that I can do with my daughter that will be fun and where she can meet some kids her age. I have looked into local parks and recreation centers that offer some fun things for her to do. I am always on the lookout for discounted things to do, too! There are a lot of coupons out there and one place I noticed that had a lot of them was our local library. They offer a readers program for kids and if you are a member, you get access to a bunch of coupons.

I don't know if that has helped, but it might give you some ideas

I think your age group is too broad because Moms worth their salt go through different stages in their child's or childrens' lives. Another factor you may need to consider is if these mommies are single or married, military spouses, stay-at-home moms, developmentally disabled children, etc.

Going back to the age group factor, a mom of a newborn may be interested in breast feeding tips or alternatives to it, diaper rash treatments, colic cures, etc. A mom of a toddler would be interested in potty training tips. A mother of an adolescent would like to keep up on what kinds of clothing styles are in fashion or what kinds of video games are worth buying for their young man or lady.

So it's really hard to say (at least from my standpoint) because every mom is at a different stage in their motherhood. That being said, I think a common denominator amongst moms would be something that has to do with weight loss, and I'm talking weight loss as easy as possible.

If you could show a mom how to look good in a size 6 (or whatever) without having to starve themselves and kill themselves at the gym, all the while eating the most tastiest of dishes that can be prepared in minimal time, I think you'll have a winner.

Whether a mom is single or married, they still want to look good for their man or potential thereof. I may be speaking for myself, of course, but ultimately, us moms would LOVE to be "hot" (think MILFs) and I would bet my entire next paycheck that if a genie were to ask the typical mom what would be their wish, one of the three choices would be that they want to be xxx pounds lighter, or be their weight at 19 years old or whatever.

I hope this helps and happy hunting!

You are right, the age group is broad. And I think you may have identified the best thing to promote, something to help them lose weight. Like a spa that does body wraps or some other kind of easy comfortable weight loss procedure.

        Thanks!

Did you buy the emails? I am interested in targeting moms as well. Would you care to share how did you get these emails?
    Thank you

So you are targeting a local store or business? Not an online business?

Personally as a mother of three boys - I wouldn't worry about the spa - mothers don't get time to go to spa's, at least not in my world! We don't have time to go to the hairdresser, to get our nails done, we don't have money to buy ourselves nice clothes or shoes or perfume or jewelry.

Although they may be things that we would like, they are often things that are left on the shelf for a while during the years that kids needs always come first.

What we do shop for is:

kids clothing - and particularly somewhere that sells nice clothes at a reasonable price
kids toys (depending on the age group)
sports equipment (once again depending on the age group)

So if you were to ask me what is the first type of shop that comes to mind as a mother - it would probably be Target or KMart (don't know if you have the same stores over there), but they have a good range of clothing, toys and sports equipment.

Or stores like Toys R Us - these are the sort of shops that I visited while my kids were younger, and even now at ages 12, 11 and 8 these would still be my most visited stores with the addition of some sports stores.

I'm not a mom but have been a stay at home father for the last 8 years. My suggestion would be things like dance lessons, gymnastics, keeping your marriage interesting and fresh after having kids, how to handle difficult kids, and perhaps simple things to keep kids interested for a few hours so you can get housework done.

This is an old post from two months ago. Mr. S asked a question and brought it back to life. I'm good now. Thanks everyone.

    Mr. S, I'll send you a PM.
