Seriously, How Many Hours a Day???

... do you spend on the WF (or other forums)?

Look, we all know that Steven Wagenheim has a neural up-link to the WF so he can read with one stream of consciousness and post with another, all the while cranking out articles and products.

How about the rest of you? How many hours per day do you spend on forums?

It might be an interesting experiment if we track it for a day just to see the real numbers - do they add up to your first estimate?

I know personally it's easy to get sucked in and realize I've been reading and posting for hours when I thought "I'll just check real quickly."

What's your confession?

Let's just say, I received a temporary ban from WF about 2 months ago....and, during that temporary banned time, I probably the most amount of work done than I've gotten done in a long time. lol. It was a bit of a blessing in disguise, so to speak.

I do sometimes just tend to keep the forum up as a separate browser window, that I open back up and refresh occasionally, 24/7....When I take a 'break' from work, I check out to see if something new is happening. (with so many members, something 'new' is ALWAYS happening)

Funny how life hands us things for direction isn't it? Glad you're back and are able to view it in a positive light.

    Hi Gary,

I'm fairly new to forums but already I spent a good 3 hours each day on a number of different forums because I learn so much from them. I would like to spend more time on here but I am afraid of getting a ban so in this particular forum I spend around 1/2 each day.

Spend as much time, as you like here. You will never get banned, for just being on the forum, getting banned requires...for you to break the rules. I am logged in most of the day, but physically I'm not behind my computer

I guess i spend about 30 minutes during the day looking at a few of the top forums to keep a finger on the pulse,i try to keep some form of routine its mainly from monday to friday as i am trying to keep some form of life outside of cyberspace sometimes its easier said than done, but when its your business you have to keep a eye on your sites.

Wow this is kind of commitment or discipline, well done.

I am spending like 30 min sometimes more, on avarage 3 times a week. But I think it shouldnt be an total obsession. My point is that many people they surf this forum and all internet buy various of latest courses which are ok, but they not gonna work if you not gonna take action.

Agree Marius, this mantra is shouted (rightfully) throughout the forum. Buying stuff is easy. Doing something with it is a whole different story for many.

Yesterday I was listening Anthony Robins and he was talking about success principles. He asked the audience is the knowledge, discipline, time maganement is the key to success? He said NO, you need to take action. Funny thing is that action is not enough you need to have a strategy - he said )) And I think most of people still looking for that magic pill or button instead of taking action. Most of the people know the strategy.

Agreed! It's easy to have the tools in your hands and still find ways to not get things done.

Making a plan for the day sometimes help people - list the stuff you HAVE to do, the stuff you SHOULD do and the stuff you WANT to do.

Put times on them. Monitor that schedule religiously. See how you stack up to your planning and how honest with yourself you were.

We often find that what we WANT to do doesn't match up with the have to's and the should do's.

I couldn't agree more, Gary. There are some pleasurable activites (like hanging out here in the WF) that aren't necessarily productive, and without having a "to-do" list of some kind to guide us, it's very easy to get lost in the pleasurable activities and neglect the productive ones!

I usually spend about an hour first thing when I get up. Instead of watching tv with my morning coffee, like I used to, I cruise the WF. Then, like a couple people mentioned, I like to do a drive by on the "new posts" as a break between different things that I'm working on. I'm one of those people that needs a few minutes to transition between projects so I pop in here. I spend more time in the WF then I do in all of the other 10 or so forums that I regularly participate in.

I use to spend a lot of time here on the warrior forum as it is very addicting lol.

However, of late I just log in for a few minutes per day.. It's hard not to stay on here but when you realize that simply reading and not working wont profit then you will try your best not to yield to the temptation.

Agreed. Something that's worked for me in the past is to set a limit - there was another thread a while back about a Warrior that bought a really, really ugly clock at a garage sale or something.

She was going to use it to keep better track of her time and limit her activities in general so she could be more productive.

Found the thread (it's dated, but it IS an ugly clock)

I usually don't like to post too many posts and don't like to stay here to long but sometimes I feel the need to come here and do my best to help others. I am not too sure how helpful my posts are to these people but I try to do my best.

Lately I have come here a lot. Maybe I should spend more time on other things but this I have learned so much in this forum that I really think that it is my turn to give back and help others directly and indirectly.

I try to keep it in check.

I have a browser tab open for the main forum, and another tab open to constantly check for comments/questions on my WSO.

When I get caught up in a good discussion, I will spend more time here. Of course, it's the nature of the WF that such conversations happen with some frequency.

Anyway, it's a good idea to not let it get out of hand.

    All the best,

Okay, this is actually going to shock a lot of people.

I actually spend very little time here.

I average about 11.5 posts per day. Each post takes me roughly about 2 or
3 minutes tops. Sometimes I'll post something longer, but those are the
          exceptions rather than the rule.

But let's say each of my posts too me 5 minutes to post.

That's about 1 hour per day in total.

Truth is, I'll come here for a few minutes, see if there is a thread that
interests me enough to respond to it and if not, I'm gone for sometimes
hours either working or in my recording studio or just playing video games.

If I do find something I like, I'll make my post and THEN if it's something
I really want to see how it turns out (doesn't happen nearly as much
anymore) I'll stick around for about 30 minutes or so. Depends on how
          heated the conversation gets.

If you look at the time intervals of most of my posts (if you go through
my history) you will see that in fact, I really don't post that much.

Truth is, it doesn't take a lot of time to make 10 posts a day.

Not if you're organized and disciplined.

          THAT is the hard part.

I'm an active forum participator in niches where I promote. I'm a great believer in building relationships through forum marketing: sharing experiences and just generally going in there with the attitude of being helpful and nice.

However, I don't spend as much time here as I used to due to getting sucked in and consequently my productivity decreased... FAST!

I don't really spend that much time promoting in the internet marketing niche in general because its waaaayyy too crowded for my liking.

With that said, I'm going to ensure I post at least once a day on this forum, and while I'm here, spend a good 15 minutes reading other people's posts. Its a great place to hang out but I think you need to limit the time you spend here.

    Garry.

My answer would vary with the phase of life and time that I am into. But in general I like to relax in Warrior Forum. Being a scientist by my full-time profession (I do IM part time because that is what I want to do rather than forced to do) I can grasp new pieces of knowledge very quickly - and so I use Warrior Forum to learn also. In addition, I do apply my tricks and twists that I learn here into my work here and there.

      Maybe, on a long-term average, I spend 30-odd minutes a day here?
