Should I Be Doing This?

I'm going through John Carlton's Simple Writing System. Currently I don't have a product of my own, and at the begining of the course he asked to describe who you are, what you sell and what do you do for you customers.

What my plan has always been before starting the course is to build lists so later I can promote relevant offers to them.

What I learn in Jogn Carltons course I will use to build the sites that collect the email addresses. I'll give away away a PLR ebook on the topic, and go through same copywriting process as I would if I was selling the PLR ebook.

The course will also aid me in writing successful newsletters that I send to subscribers.

Am I thinking correctly here?

I can't help but feel a little "outside the regular" circle whilst watching Johns DVD's because most people in the seminar he is speaking from have products, or a brick and mortar business.

For the sake of the course should I invent a product that interests me?

Any advice is much appreciated.

    Hi James,

    It sounds like you are on the right track to me. I have been in programs that don't quite fit what I'm doing as well. The trick is to do what you're doing: Take what you can from it and apply it as best as you can.

    You don't have to have your own product, just use someone else's product instead.

      Your plan sounds fine to me.

      Basic copywriting is a skill that becomes part of the way you breathe and gets infused into everything you do in your online business.

      You have made a good choice of mentor also by what I've seen

    Hello James,

    Ooo I am glad you posted.

    I have just bought the Simple Writing System myself! I don't ever remember spending that much on myself. I have promised my husband that I will get a cleaning job if this doesnt work out, and give up Internet Marketing forever!!

    So I am really hoping that this works out! I have set aside two hours every day to just work through the DVDs and the book so that I can apply it to my "business".

    (I say business - it's a collection of websites that sometimes make me some money!)
