Success - I didn't listen, but I'm glad I finally did!
I've been involved in IM part time for about 2 yrs, I'm a college student as well. I hate the corporate world and can't stand to work for someone else telling me what to do.
For the first yr and 1/2, I've been a student to IM, learning the in's and out's...everything I could possibly take in to help me. This forum has been a large part of my learning, as well as other free and paid information.
For the last 6 months I've really been taking action, creating a couple websites and working highly on seo, along with a couple other things. I've been making some good money through this, but...
I kept on hearing build a list, the money is in the list, you need to build a list. So I woke up 1 morning, had a cup of coffee and started building a couple of followup messages, including a free report. I had no idea if it would work or not, but I just did it!
It started off slowly, building a list of 5-10 subscribers a day, and no sales. I was thinking about deleting my aweber account and sticking to what I had been doing.
Then a week later, boom! sale! A day after that, boom! Another sale!
And....! I was still making the same money from a site of mine with a cpa offer.
I more than doubled my income just by building a list!
So what did I learn from all of this?
1. Building a list is a must, no matter how much you're making on your site, you can make so much more with a list.
2. Keep on learning and keep on trying out different ways to optimize your site or whatever it is you're doing.
3. NEVER give up! There were so many times I wanted to give up in IM. But I kept at it no matter what, ignoring my family and friends laughing at me for doing this. Then I started making money and they started asking how I'm doing this and if I can show them lol. They have no idea of the potential in IM, because they're so used to the normal life...going to school and getting a good job, retiring when you're old, blah blah.
Keep believing and keep taking action. Do what you've never done before, chances are it'll pay off.
