Affiliate Marketing Do You Focus On The Product Or The Market?

I know many people teach you to find a product and base your promotion off of that product, while it does work...

I think you should focus on finding a market first, sure finding a good product is important, but if you focus on the market (niche) then you'll have a higher chance of success, because you really never know how long a product will be around or if your 'selling model' will even work to sell the product.

One of the only times you'd want to focus on a single product is if you are building a site based on that one product and focusing on getting ranked for that product. Again, you are limiting yourself...

Why not write honest reviews for several products in that market (niche) that way your site will appear more helpful and will last longer?

The point is you have more options if you focus on a market rather than a single product, you'll last longer in the niche and have a higher chance of making a profit as most profitable niches have several good products that you can promote together or even create your own products to satisfy the needs in that niche.

Actually, the particular product is #4 on my list...

    1. Market - a group of people centered around a desire which they are both willing and able to sepnd money on.

    2. How do I reach that market effectively?

    3. What will it cost to reach that market?

    4. What can I (profitably) offer them (the product(s))?

I worry about the product last because, if there is no suitable product, I can create one.

I'd always focus on the market first and then the product. If the market is bad, then the product might not do as well.

Market/Keyword research, should be the top priority.

Market first! But, that market has to be "hungry" for something. If there's an overriding need in the market that's not being fulfilled, and I can fulfill it... then I'm all over that market!

It's not really about which one but more about which one comes first
