How does Google read a domain name...

Hello,
I understand the use of a keyword rich domain. But I am a little confused about how Google reads a domain name. An example might be "organic gardening". How does Google read this name? "Organic","organic gardening" or "gardening". Do meta tags or content help google pull the keyword from the domain?

From meta description tags, content (website title, h1 heading tag, text), url, other sites linking to you with the anchor text "organic gardening".

Using the full keyword or phrase in domain is good.
And getting the domain without symbols is good but if you can't get that then words
separated by hyphens also works great.
And meta tag , keywords and all that stuffs are different they are not related to domain name factor for ranking.

Interesting. So it is best to choose match keywords/meta tags as for the domain and headline right? I heard that google read your domain name and headline to decide how to rank you.

To answer your question: from left to right (that wasn't meant to be a joke).

If you're trying to rank, forget about if Google reads your domain or headline first. If you can pick a domain that contains the exact keyword - great. If not, try to use it first and add on a word after it.

Just create content related to the keyword that you want to rank for and use the keyword in your page and content H1 title. If you keep to the point, you should have a bunch of related words or variations in your content.

...can't give an SEO course in this 1 post, but that's as simple as I can explain on page optimization...especially about backlinks.

Be careful when having two words in the domain name, for example "Pen Island"...

Istvan....not sure what you're talking about there. Care to elaborate?

Just kidding. Funny example. I heard something similar in a recent seminar I attended.

Google read left to right. If you want to add any words with your domain name (like "the")add suffix instead of prefix.
