Any technical geniuses online this evening?

I've got a partner in Spain that is attempting to access my website which I'm hosting on a dedicated server (via Hostgator).

From his university office, he has no troubles. From home, he is receiving a 403 forbidden error. No one else is reporting a problem. What server configuration settings do I need to have checked. Hostgator seems to be clueless so far.

Anybody got a theory on this one?

Talltom... Is the URL pointing to a directory, as opposed to a web page? That can cause the 403 error.

Also, if you have a cpanel on your hosting site, go tot the error log and follow the stream as to when the login error occurred.

It's possible that it is his provider and not the server. Check the raw access logs to see if you can see the incoming request with the 403 response. The server logs EVERY incoming request, and how it responds. If the 403 isn't there, then it's on the browser side. If there IS a request, you can toss it back to Hostgator. You can also check a direct URL to a page you know exists rather than a root directory or the like.

I just talked to an individual that is a professional webmaster and server expert. He tried accessing the site via proxy servers in different European countries. Poland worked, Netherlands and Germany didn't, France worked. His assessment - there is a server configuration error that is blocking large regions of Europe.

I'll keep tracking this down...Thanks for your help.
