Warriors! WHICH DOMAIN DOMINATES?

Hi Warriors who are experienced,

I am selling an ebook on addiction and have 4 domains. Here is a list of the global searches per month and the google results of those different keywords:

#1 teenagealcoholism.org (4400 global searches a month, 220,000 results when keyword is plugged into google)

#2 teenagersdrinking.org (12,000 global searches, 3,730,000 results)

#3 teenagersdrugabuse.org (5400 searches, 886,000 results)

#4 teensubstanceabuse.org (6600, 1,380,000 results)

How can I rank which ones will be the best to use from an SEO standpoint?

Thanks

I am looking to pick the best ones to help me succeed in helping addicted kids.

By assessing the quality of the top 5 (or so) SERP's listings for each of the appropriate search-terms, I think.

Their quantities don't really matter: it's better to have 1,000,000 competing sites with nothing too special or unbeatable on the front page SERP's than 10,000 competing sites of which the top 10 are age-old, high-PR authority sites with millions of context-relevant high-PR backlinks.

Do yourself a favor and forget about how many competing sites each of the keywords have. Instead take a look at the top 20 sites ranking for each of them instead. The free version of Traffic Travis will help you out with that.

I would not go for any “niche” on Google unless I am sure that I can get in top 3 of the search results… Anything else will NOT get you traffic from Google in my experience.

You have to take a good look at how easy that niche is to dominate or conquer.

Who are the first 3 Google results?
Are some of them authority sites?
    Do they have high PR?
How many backlinks do they have each?

After you know things like that, you can take that information and see what the possibilities are for you to succeed in that particular niche. (Getting in top 3 of Googles search results)

2 of your domains are alcohol related, but the others are a more encompassing drug & substance abuse (which could include alcohol).

    Ask yourself these questions?

    1) Which domain most closely relates to the product you are selling?

    2) What primary keyword phrase do you want to rank for?

The Teenagersdrinking one could be misleading...it could be people looking for pictures of teens drunk - I mean it might not be people looking to overcome a teen drinking problem.

    My 2 cents.

Thanks- to everyone- however- I think someone had posted a formula for me and it is missing today.

Jason:That's a great point Jason about the teenagers drinking one that may not target the right audience so I won't use that one.

John Webster- in terms of your comment about being in the top 3 to sell in a niche are all those url's I mentioned are quite competitive in terms of back links, authority sites etc- it may be tough to be in the top 3. I am a psychiatrist trying to make a dent in the world of addiction with my e-books. What would be your suggestions to me to succeed in this endeavor? How can I find a way in that I can make a splash on the internet in an area I am passionate about?

And Thanks to Alexa too- I am evaluating the top sites (and it is very competitive!)

Matt- I will check out your suggestion this morning

I am open to all suggestions!

What is your target keyphrase you want to rank for? If this is not in your domain name, you are already behind the 8 ball in my opinion.

I will target the keyword in my url:
my niche is teen substance abuse and all the related keywords (teenage alcoholism, teen drug abuse, youth substance abuse etc- however- the keywords tend to be very competitive when I look at competing authority sites. Any suggestions: when I use market samurai to check- the niche is quite competitive. There are a few terms like teenage alcohol abuse that seem a bit less competitive though.

To get down to basics, every page (well.. almost any page ) can be outranked, it's simply a matter of how much time and effort you put into beating them. Market Samurai is a great tool that gives good stats on the strength of your competition, it's up to you to decide whether or not you are prepared to put in the effort required to outrank them.

In my opinion, there are 3 main parts to achieving top rankings: domain name, amount of backlinks (including backlink quality) and on-page SEO. If you feel you can do better than your competitors in these 3 fields, you are on your way to top rankings.

As your niche is "teen substance abuse", I personally would be taking preference over your #4 domain (assuming you have researched this phrase), however I would take further preference in the same domain with a TLD of .com or .net, if your site is anything other than "non profit" (.orgs are traditionally known as non profit domains).

You may then like to consider using some of your related keywords as categories for your site and posting relevant articles within those categories.

If you are a relative newbie, I would be targeting the lower competition keyphrases initially in order to make some ground, prior to tackling more competitive search terms.

I would try go for some smaller key phrases (Micro Niche).

I made a search and found out that you probably could do something with the key phrase: "drug abuse teens"

I think it would be possible to find 5-10 more good targeted teen/youth key phrases that all bring in around 500-1000 searches on Google a month. That could be a start ;-)

I don't think the current results on Google are relevant enough. Try creating a Hubpage hub with a SEO article about "drug abuse teens". That might be enough to get you ranking on Google. But you have to do more to stay there later on...

I will try something like that. I wrote a book a year ago for alcoholic spouses and it has taken so so much work to get on the first page of google for the key word, alcoholic spouse. I want to be much smarter about this my second ebook and I am not sure how to proceed. When I wrote these book, I did not even know what SEO stood. The terms on addiction are quite competitive- and I want to choose my url and title page with 4-5 great keywords. What do you think the best way to do my research? I normally use the google free keyword tool and market samurai. Is that the best way to proceed? 720 searches seems like so little to start.
