Please Advise me on Keyword selecting to Go after?

I'm having hard time figuring out if its going to be worth going after keywords that are not really specific if I were to build a review site for example on "weight loss products" or "hair removal products", so with choosing the keywords that I'll be going after and try to get my site to rank would it be not so good to go after keywords for example "weight loss" or "hair removal" which don't specifically indicate that they're looking for the products of weight loss or hair removal? Because theres not much searches for example "weight loss products" at all comparing to just "weight loss" or har removal" Could you please advise on it, its not like I'll be going after weight loss but you get the idea.. Thank you!

    I agree with what John has said... You need to drill down a little further...

    "Weight loss" is a very huge topic... And also there are also a lot of websites trying to get ranked for the term "weight loss" so it will be difficult for your website to be ranked well for the term...

    By drilling down further (and targeting a particular weight loss topic such as, like John said, "weight loss after pregnancy"), you are targeting a specific group of people, which, in this case, is people who are seeking solutions on how to lose weight after giving birth - Not only will you get better results (such as getting more sales to products that will help people to lose weight after giving birth), but also it is easier for your website to be ranked well in the search engines (as there will be lesser competition - Due to the fact that there will be lesser websites trying to rank for the key phrase)

    And you can also target keywords around brand name. This is the most profitable keyword that you can ever target, quick search on Amazon showed me some brand keywords that you can target:

    Amazon.com: Weight Loss Products: Appetite Control & Suppressants, Diet Bars, Supplements, Diuretics, Diet Shakes
