What's your work environment?

Do you work in a separate home office? Separate business office in a building? Ford Transit van?

What's your work environment, and would you change to something else if you could?

Me....I have a separate home office and I love it - I can shut the door!

I have a home office too, but I love to take my laptop to work in a cafè or in the park. Maybe I´m not that productive doing this, but I love my job that way and stay motivated.

If I would work inside everyday I would get bored and demotivated, because then it is a job like most office jobs.

Of course, for some kind of work I have to stay in the office.

  • I use the spare bedroom, which has a table and can double up as an office.

With that said, with a laptop I can be productive almost anywhere.

I have my spare bedroom setup as a home office but in the warmer weather I spend a good part of the day working on the porch!

And then in the afternoon somehow I find my self in the livingroom with my laptop and the TV on.

Perhaps if I stayed in the home office, I would get more work done

My workplace is my home, the local library, my girlfriends flat, City library...cafe's... anywhere I want really :-) When you have a laptop you can decide to work anywhere you want :-)

Like many others, my laptop is my place of work. However, I usually stick to working from my room -- at a mini desk I have set up in my summer room, or from my "real" desk during the school year. Right now, I'm using the home office to motivate myself and snap out of the routine.

As soon as you walk in my house, that is my computer room. I leave the door open with the nice weather and my 2 big dogs bark at everybody walking down the street. I have jumped out of my skin so many times from their barks... I sometimes wish they would go in another room. It can be a little comical at times. I would not want to go to another place to do my work because I can get up and walk away at any given moment which is a luxury I enjoy.

Mine depends on the time of year.

If it's winter time (the coolest time of the year here) and I am down on the islands, then my work environment is my laptop while sitting in my hammock overlooking the beach.

If it's summer time, when it gets ridiculously hot, then I'm on the mainland, either back at my house on the farm, or staying in my apartment in town, either way I'm shut away inside with the aircon on.

My workplace is my bed. If I tried to work out in the living room my roommates would constantly bother me to play XboX with them.

It's fun but I can only play so much CoD, Fallout, Fable, etc.

I have a separate office in the basement - also with a door I can close. I built it explicity to be my office - but later it can be used as a bed room too (meets code to be one). Lots of windows for natural light - 4 circuits for all the computers and equipment so I don't worry about tripping a breaker. A 55 gallon fish tank is in place and space near one of the bookshelves is waiting for the recliner. While I know its different strokes for different folks - I enjoy having my home office. And for human interaction I just go out to lunch most days and meet up with friends or business partners.
